I am going to be very bad at this process!

I am going to be very bad at this process!

I am going to really stink at house hunting. I knew it already but I didnt realize HOW bad. I CRIED the first time I saw my wedding hall. . . DH and I bought our first new car without test driving it and we weren't even 100% sure that we bought it when we left the dealership!

Okay so I found this house and went to see it with my dad over the summer bc DH works wacky hours. I practically explained to the agent where my (imaginary) kids would play in the yard. So much for playing it cool. For weeks after I was 100% sure this was OUR house. Yes, the first house PLUS we couldn't afford it!!

So, I pass the house again yesterday and see it is still for sale. I come home and tell my mom that I still want DH to see it. I walk upstairs and there is a message on my voicemail from the agent telling me that they SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the price and did the entire first floor in hard wood flooring. So now, of course I am convinced this is a *sign* and I call DH. He said he will go see it so I call the agent to schedule an appointment to see it AND she doesnt pick up and I leave a message and now I am sitting here freaking out bc I want her to call me back LOL

And now I am questioning if I left my name or not and if I should call back.

I know this isn't the house because we would need $120K off the asking price for this house to fall into the HIGH end of our range but this is BAD foreshadowing. . .I am going to get excited and then disappointed about every single house!!!

awww it is normal to get anxious at times like this. ALso i know it doesnt help when you really want something but trust me things like this happen for a reason, so no matter what just remember in the end you will get what is best for you. MIL always talks about how 30 years ago she didnt buy a house that was a bit bigger just for a few thousand dollars, i think 8k difference, and regrets it but then realizes that in the end it was the best decision. One of her closes friends is a neighbor of hers, and she would've never met her if it she didnt move into the house they did. The daughter is very close to BIL, they are great friends. She is married now and has a kid and MIL is the godmother, the little girl was our FG.

Also, i remember YEARS ago, i mean when i was a kid. My parents wanted to buy this house in maspeth, they put in a bid and everything was going their way and they could've got it. Well we had to go overseas for about 3 weeks for my aunts wedding. During that time, the real estate agent which was a good friend btw, screwed over my parents and sold the house to somebody else. My parents were very upset and it was everything they wanted, inside it was HUGE, beautiful full basement, and very big backyard. So when we came back from vacation we had to look elsewhere and we moved to astoria. I cant imagine my life if we didnt move to astoria. I loved growing up there, and not to mention that i would never have met Dh if we didnt.

not sure if it will help but hopefully these stories will give you a little peace of mind, knowing that in the end you will get what is best for you and everything happens for a reason. Even when you are so upset and really wanted something. We lost out on an apt we LOOOOVED last year and we were very upset, dh was even more upset than i was. Well we found out this year we have to move to LI bc of dh's new promotion. Would've s*cked bc we would've had to sell the place after just a year, so now i say thank god we didnt buy it.

If its meant to be for you, then you will get it. I hope it is the one for you and wish you two luck. If not dont worry.

Thanks you definitely calmed me down!! I know, when my parents came from Italy everyone else bought houses in East New York and my parents came to Howard Beach. . . well all of their friends that bought houses there had to leave eventually and some even went back to Italy and my parents are still in the first house they bought with my dad's parents. I know everything happens for a reason but I get this anxious feeling like 'OMG we are going to miss out on a deal' and I have to be MUCH more laid back than that bc I know right now people are looking at HUNDREDS of houses!

I am like this with everything! I bought the first wedding dress I tried on, we picked the second hall we went to etc. My family makes fun of me bc I went to do my big 'fall wardrobe shopping' and I was back home within an hour and I had spent $300!! LOL I even bought the first dress I tried on for each of my proms. . . I could go through so many things I guess I am an impatient shopper!!!

I have to make a conscious effort to RELAX with this process though since its such a huge decision!

and im sure you are glad your parents decided to move to howard beach. But like you said, its hard to think that far ahead and see now that even if things dont go through its for the best. But you might get it for the price you want, now is the best time to negotiate and prices have dropped even more than before recently.

I am the same way hahahaha. I went dress shopping once, went to 2 rh's, all my vendors were the first ones i saw, but i knew before i went that i wanted them. I think i did the same for prom too hahaha. So i understand when it comes to this, i hate shopping so thats another reason.

Hopefully you hear back from them soon in the meantime just try to keep yourself occupied and not focused on this too much, i know easier said than done hahaha. Good luck and let us know what happens
