I am miserable this morning...please help

I had a feeling I was allegric to my eye shadow or maybe tje brushes...

About a month ago I wore eyeshadow and woke up next morning with swollen eyes...I didn't wear shadow for like a month..last night I went to a wake so I wanted to put on...I used loreal eyeshadow a while back which has 4 colors, but ran out of one color and brought that one color...sooo I am figuring there is something in that shadow to make me have this...

Has anyone had a allegric reaction to eyeshadow???

I am goin to try to clean my eyeshadow brushes bc there is 4 of them i use to put eyeshadow on..I am goin to clean my brushes and buy different eyeshadow and try that...if not I am goin to get new brushes and try again...

I am making a appt with allegry doctor to try and fig what in the makeup is making me have the reaction

my eyes get irritated if i wear makeup constantly, especially mascara. I just really scrub my face every morning and night to make sure nothing else will help irritate my eyes. I do have a couple of friends though that found they were allergic to some brands and were fine with others...it might just be an ingredient in the brand you are using that is bothering your eyes! OR...it might that this terrible allergy season is making your eyes more sensitive to makeup.

My mom is allergic to mascara...

The Lancome really bothers her but others start bothering her after she wears them a lot. She has to constantly switch mascara. This is only recent.

Kerri had an allergic reaction in her eyes and she didn't know what it was from...makeup, etc. she went to the doctor and it turned out to be a rubber allergy. If you can see a doctor/allergist I would do that just so you know exactly what it is so it doesn't happen again. So sorry you're going through this

I know it sounds weird, but years ago my mom developed a fatal allergic reaction to fish. After that happened, she could no longer wear certain color eyeshadows. We came to find out that certain colors, like plums, purples, etc.. are made with a marine life extract.

Wow wonder about the shelfish I had shrimp dumpling yesterdya and day before just shrimp....I will have to deff ask doctor to see if that could have been it...but not sure the last time if I had shrimp

OMG, i remember a student of mine once told me she was allergic to purple eyeshadow during an icebreaker...i never understood why until now!

I had an allergic reaction to the Bare minerals water proof mascara! I was ok when I initally put it on but by the time was was half way to work my eyes would start burning. It took me a few days to figure out it was the mascara.

I have a lot of food allergies as well as skin ones..like I have to use unscented hypo allergenic etc...I would def go to a doc and have a allergy test done cause u never know what it could be...

this is true.... only what was causing the allergic reaction in my eyes was Benzoyl Perozide. It just turns out I'm allergic to rubber as well.

As I learned from my experience, you can be allergic to ANYTHING and have it affect your eye area. It doesn't even have to be something that touches your eyelids.... as i never put proactiv on my lids.

I was having severe itching, redness and swelling. it was VERY off and on and I couldn't pinpoint what was causing it. I started to think it was from my eyeshadow. It SEEMED like i would have a reaction after i wore certain shadows... so i was really starting to believe it was the eyeshadow. But when I went to my dermatologist and told him about it... he got very excited and told me about this strip test he does and he's up to like 99 things it tests for. I got the sense that different doctors have different things on their strip tests... but I'm not positive.

it's a TOTAL pain in the *** test... but VERY worth it. Basically the majority of your back is covered with this huge pad thing that's taped on. it has tiny squares... 99 of them that all test for something different to see what you are allergic to. you wear it for a day or 2, then go back to the dr to have it looked at and they do something to it, then you go back again the following day and they tell you what you are allergic to. the rubber allergy showed up with a reaction... which affected where the tape was too!! so i'm allergic to band aids, etc. but the eye area was being affected from the benzoyl peroxide allergy.

It was a developed allergy. I was not allergic to it for YEARS. then one day my body had enough of it and bam.... allergic!! thanks proactiv!

ETA: if you need me to recommend my dermatologist... i would gladly! i've been going to him since like 2003!! he's on the upper east side though. he DEF tests for this type of allergy!!

you know what's super sad about the rubber allergy?? eyelash glue!!! haha!! i'm allergic to that as well!! that explains why they are always itchy and my eyes get watery if I wear fake lashes. But i don't care.. I'll wear them anyway if I have to. I dont swell up from it... so I can deal with a lil itchy and water... esp if I'm drinking!!

I'm totally allergic to purple eyeshadow and eye liner. I thought I had pink eye once, it was so bad!! And I love the way purple eye liner looks on me.

certain purples and pinks depending on brands cause more allergies due to some sort of metallic ingredient in them. I read about it when I was trying to find out what was going on with my eyes.

After that, she had the problems with the eye make up, purples, plums , pinks etc.. and we found out that use a shellfish extract in those colors. Her eyes would blow up at get swollen. Also after her bad reaction, she is not even able to handle fish anymore. Her hands blow up and get hives if she just touches it!

DH is allergic to shellfish. SERVERLY! When he goes to hospitals he has to tell them because they put some sort of shellfish extract in some sort of dye or something for Xrays. Anyone ever hear of this????
