I am not a newlywed, but I am curious...where did you store all the gifts you received from your shower?
I was thinking about what I am registering for and realized, I have no place in my apt for this stuff! No attic, cannot bring anything to my moms, etc. I guess I will be filling up the spare bedroom until we get a house!

After my shower we went to where we were going to live after the wedding. Put all the gifts in our spare room.

My parents Living Room!
Seriously, after the wedding, we brought with us whatever we could, but everything else is at my parents in their garage, or my IL's in their basement. We are quickly outgrowing our apartment as well, but have a 5 year plan going at the moment. Hopefully we'll be in a house within the next 3-5 years.

This caused some fights for us. All of our stuff is spread out in 3 closets in my moms house. My FMIL did not even offer to allow us to put stuff at her house. This upset my mom. I would try to figure it out beforehand to avoid any fights.

My parent's garage. My Dad said on our video 'well everyone always told me your not losing a daughter your gaining a son... well that's true but actually I'm gaining my garage back TOO!'
And my mom had a priceless look on her face as he said it.

Some are in my parent's basement in NY, as are the wedding gifts that people brought to the wedding. During my trips to NY, I have been able to bring some back with me.Thank goodness most people had enough sense to mail them to us in Chicago or give us money.

Some of them are in my basement still,( My shower was in December) I am slowly starting to put them where they belong. I have to say i think I open a new appiliance almost every week. I am enjoying it more now then when I got them. I think this week I will be opening the bread maker. I cannot wait to have the basement back!!!!

I kept (and still do keep) mine piled up in the kitchen on the table...that we use for no other purpose than to hold all the gifts we got with no place to put. We don't fit in this apartment!!

We had most of them in my mother's basement. Thank god I was still living at home at the time of the shower- there was no way I could have fit that stuff in an apartment!

We are living in an apartment above our IL's after the wedding and we have an extra bedroom and an attic so we will keep most of the stuff we don't use there. My good china is already up in the attic. I received most of it as a present from my MIL for our engagement party.

We had our stuff piled up down the hallway and in the kitchen! It was a nightmare! But since then we have moved into a bigger apartment and everything is put in it's place now! Thank God! It was horrible looking at piles of boxes everywhere!s

We had JUST moved into our condo...so, we cheated a little and used the coffee maker, toaster, casual china, table lamps, 2 vases, 2 clocks, and the vaccuum cleaner.
the rest, we kept in closets

DH was living in the apartment in our house so we put them all in the living room. When it was time for us to live upstairs, we just had to walk around the house and into the front door.

Re: I am not a newlywed, but I am curious...where did you store all the gifts you received from your shower?
I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment and was determined to keep all my shower stuff with me and not store it at our parents house. I couldn't wait to use it all. I learned how to creatively use space in my apartment. The nI was lucky and the weekend before my shower I had just moved into the 2 bedroom because I doubt it would have all fit in our old one bedroom. The new apt had a dining room so we bought a dining room set soon after which stored most of the china and crystal and had lots of underneath storage. In my closets - I piled things on shelves to the tippy top and we put in high shelfs to store rarely used items. I did throw in my parents attic some empty boxes for the china and crystal - knowing we were going to buy a house within a year of the wedding I wanted to keep that stuff to help with my next move.

Re: I am not a newlywed, but I am curious...where did you store all the gifts you received from your shower?
The gifts from our engagement and our showere were stored in the kitchen of our apartment we moved into. The apartment is in Danielle's basement and we were still in the process of working on it while we kept the gifts there. After we cleaned the storage room and installed shelving, and we also water proofed the crawl space we had places to put most of the gifts. Now the storage room is packed and so is the crawlspace with gifts...I cannot believe how much stuff we got....
