I am officially an old lady!

Original post by Sonicstef

Ive always been 'mature' for my age but I am officially middleaged now (at the chronilogical age of 25). Evidence as such was all present this week, including:

- I was walking in the rain yesterday and though 'oh great, its raining, my plants will get watered. I wonder if my petunias will be blooming afterward?'

- Someone asked me 'what are you doing this weekend?' and I a) had no clue it was Memorial Day b)have absolutely no holiday plans c)am going to Home Depot to buy a rug and am very excited about it!

- Bought my very purchase from QVC this week

- Am complaining about all the new 'impractical' styles out in the stores

Am old lady!!!

Re: I am officially an old lady!

I feel the same way. Last month, I got my hair done on a Thursday and I thought I was too cute to stay home. SO I told my husband I wanted to go out dancing that night. We went to this club we usually go to. I had a drink and danced for a few minutes and was ready to go home. I didn't want to say anything to DH, but he was feeling the same way. Finally, I said are you ready to go. He was like he thought I was never going to ask because he was ready to leave too. We left the club laughing our butts off because only a few years ago, we were partying and hanging out any day of the week, and still able to get up and go to work.

I think its more of a lifestyle change then being old...then think of our parents at our age...they were doing and thinking the same things we are now...

yesterday there were some late teen-early 20 boy(and I call them boys for a reason)...they had the headband on...and the one pant leg up and I said to John...look at those dorks...
he said: they're not dorks...you're just old

!!! but I still maintain that I would think they were dorks if I was 18!!

we were going to go away this weekend...until we realized it was memorial day...anddidn't want to be in the crowds!!

I actually get movie tickets at my job for $5.50 - the catch is that I have to wait 10 days after the movie opens. I REFUSE to see a movie until I can use those tickets!!!

Also I'm starting to feel old now, because I'm noticing the younger people. I USE to be the youngest one! Not anymore!

Don't you hate going to the movies and there are a ton of teenagers in there? That is the worst.
I even bring my own water/soda and candy because I will not spend $20 at the theatre. It is insane.

But then come June 30th I am jealous that most of the kids have off for the summer and I remember how great that felt. The first week of summer vacation- there was nothing like it!

I know I am getting to be an adult, not old at all. I am very young. We cannot take the crowds, we cannot take all the laughter and chatter. We do not get the terms that our son uses I clip coupons, a bargain works at any age if you ask me.

Stef I know its powdery, I bought it from MAC but I use it for the crease of my eyes instead of lining my eyes with it. You are so funny, your good eye

Michele...i bring in my own popcorn!!
1. b/c the prices are outrageous..
2. mine is lowfat...I don't even want to think how fattening the movie theaters popcorn is!!

I actually had to turn around in a movie theater to tell some girls to be quiet!!! YIKES...and that was about 4 years ago...

Re: I am officially an old lady!

You guys are cracking me up!!! Old??? You aren't old!!! However it is so funny that brought this up Stef. I was just thinking the other day that I might be getting old, but then I realized that nahhhh. Not yet. However there are a few things that I noticed I have been thinking that might qualify me as old.

I found myself driving under the speed limit. Now that was scary. I am usually the one in the left lane of the LIE doing 75 with my CD player blasting.

I had to go to the hospital for a test. The kid that I thought was an orderly turned out to be the doctor that I needed to see. Can we say Doogie Howser? I even asked him if he was old enough to be a doctor. I wanted to take those words back as soon as they left my mouth

I find myself going to stores when I think they will be the emptiest. And the only people that are there when I go are the really old people!

I wouldn't worry too much. I think you all find that you will regress a bit when you have kids. They help keep you young. You do and say silly things and it's just fine. My kids and I still play and they are 25 and 19. And I am 47....so you are all still pretty young to me!

I just started bringing my own snacks to the movies! I feel like such a cheap ******* when I pop open some contraband junk food but I cant help myself...im not paying $8 for M&Ms!

Another 'old' thing that I do: Look at sheets and plates with longing even though I dont need them. When did I get so old that I dream about sheets instead of shoes and dresses and jewlery?

OMG I feel the same way!! Stef & Cira, you ttok the words right out of my mouth! I am upset it is going to rain this weekend because I wanted to finish my flowerbeds/gardening. I am so looking forward to going and picking up more flowers to plant on Saturday. I will probably be out there in the rain.
I don't read the fun circulars in the Sunday Papers anymore, I read Target, food stores and coupons.

I am so glad I am not the only one who feels like this!

Michele31 what is MA?? Triple coupons??

Re: I am officially an old lady!

FI is going to be 30 in June and I'll be 24 in July and I swear we are 70 year olds trapped in our bodies.

Some nights we are in bed at 10pm, we love doing an early dinner, gotta love matinee movies, bringing your own candy to movies and complaing of the noise these kids listen to and call music.

In the supermarket is actually the best because he'll ask me something and I'll respond with an answer that had absolutly nothing to do with the question and then he'll answer me. So we wind up having a nonsense conversation on should we buy ice cream.

Oh yea we are definatly 70 years old trapped in a youthful body.

edited to add: I actually used the term 'in my day' when watching something on tv.

Stef, never used Smashbox but it looks good, I get hooked on any kind of makeup that either QVC or HSN do sometimes..bought many things but never Smashbox. Does it say it will last a long time? The only thing that lasts on my eyes is liquid eyeliner and not even long lasting pencils or whatever...my eyes are oily (a sign of old age !), anyway, let me know if you like it when you get it...

LOL Stef! See what marriage has done to you???

No kidding, I'm the same way. My friends from work want to go to happy hour tonight and I refused, saying I was going home to bed.

I used to laugh at my mom when she noticed curtains...or someones jewelry or a nice couch on the background of a movie...now I do it all the time...
