At BRIAN

In three weeks we will be moving EVERYTHING we own down to NC (even though we won't be moving there till this summer)! Anyway I come home today after a FAB day to him TELLING me that hes going to Puerto Rico for a Skydiving Boogie the weekend before we leave for NC! HELLLLOOOO- we have packing to do!!!! Granted its a free trip- he doesn't have to pay a dime BUT still it would've been noce if he talked to me about this first!! And he doesn't understand why I am mad

Okay, as one who has moved across states and is baout to do it again, I completely understand why you are mad.

BUT...this seems to be something he really wants to do and is excited about. My advice would be to talk to him and come to an agreement that he can go, but only if he spends the entire week beforehand helping you pack up EVERYTHING. That way, the work is mostly done.

The only other thing I could suggest is asking him to bump the trip up by 4 days. Then, he could take his trip and be back in time to get some packing in before you have to go.

Awww Marie, that stinks!!!

I have to say, I would be pretty pizzed off too if my DH did something like this. Not cool!!! Even if we weren't moving the following weekend ... I would still want him to discuss a trip he was hoping to take without me, even if it was a free trip. Its not like we run every move we make past eachother, cause that would be a little co-dependent, but its just a courtesy I think that a husband (or wife!) should provide to their partner in life.

Hopefully he will come to his sense, apologize and promise to help you pack everything up before he leaves so you don't have the stress of trying to get it all done yourself.

Free trip or not-I bet that had he asked you or spoken to you about it you would have let him go...its just the fact that he assumed it was ok

It ***** that he didnt' inform you before booking but what's done is done. explain his mistake to him and get him to work extremely hard on moving things and packing things up until his weekend away arrives.

yea - i agree it totally stinks BUT he's already made his mistake & whats done is done. Like Ev said, talk to him about it - let him know he hurt u by not even mentioning it. I'm sure if u came home & said 'hey babe i'm going to miami for a week next month' he'd be like 'huh?'. I dont mean this in a mean way (but u did say he ***** lol ) but it's common sense to atleast mention & make sure all is well before booking an actual TRIP....ESPECIALLY that ur moving the following week. let him know his mistake and work his butt off before he leaves, and the day he gets back tell him u dont wanna hear that he's tired either just done dwell on it & let it ruin these next few weeks...hugs & love!

I'd be pissed too but then eventually would realize that 'ya know, he'd probably pack all wrong anyway'

Sorry~ was too entertained by the penguins and forgot to comment on the matter at hand! I pretty much agree with everyone- he just should have spoken to you first and it probably would never have been an issue! Definitely talk to him and let him know you are hurt that he just didn't come to you first- he should know that he can't just make these decisions on his own now!
