i can't accept this gift

My boss has gone crazy - he bought me a very beautiful gift and it has a big price tag......aroung $500!!! I am still in total shock. DH says I should have refused it! But I know my boss would have made me keep it.

I was verrrrrrry shocked and greatful but I am just feeling very bad. Especially because him and his wife also just took us to a very nice and pricey dinner last week. I only spent $50 on him and feel like crap. So I also decided to send his family a gift basket. Is there anything else I should do? I don't know y he went so crazy, he usually buys nice things but like $100 range.

Also some background - I am his assistant and do a lot for him at work and other stuff for him and his wife (anything they need really). But I really enjoy my job and love him as a boss. I just can't stop feeling so guilty and bad!

Ok thx girls for making me feel better. DH made me feel so bad for some reason and kept saying you shouldn't have accepted it. I feel like DH was mad. But maybe just felt weird bc me and DH don't even spend that much on eachother?!?? I dunno but starting to feel alittle better.

Ok and will tell u what it was - a Movado watch - it doesn't need to be a secret but I just felt like keeping it to myself at first. I actually probably wouldn't buy one if I had the money. But I have been eyeing them in our spirit points catalogue (a rewards/bonus program we have at work) - I guess he knew I was eyeing it and bought it! Crazy!!!!! I am nervous for other people at work to find out about it, its going to be akward.

that's awesome! i used to get coach bags from my old boss every year and when I worked there in college he got me a movado for my graduation. Please don't feel bad - like others said, he makes a lot more money and lavish gifts - especially if you work in the city where people just tend to make more - aren't really that uncommon. Enjoy - I've had mine for 10 years and it's the only watch i wear!
