I didnt know where to post this...health related question

Ok so I have been having pains on my right side for quite awhile now, but its been getting worse and worse so I finally caved and went to the dr. They are sending me for a sono tomorrow on my gall bladder and liver and I guess all the questions that I had didnt sink in until I got back to work...

Does or has anyone ever had any problems with their gall bladders? Everything I read online says people who are overweight or eat lots of fatty foods tend to have problems with their gall bladder, but I really dont fit that profile. I am not overweight, and sure I enjoy the occasional greasy fatty foods, but its not part of my daily diet.

I dont know anyone who has had problems so I dunno if my pain is from the gall bladder or something else...

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I had pains in my side and it turned out to be a kidney stone (which are really in your back!). I wouldn't worry about it until they run all the tests. I could be something really minor. I'm just surprised they are waiting to do more tests. If the pain gets worse, go into the ER. They'll run all the tests you need and diagnose you sooner than later.

No I was not on those, but I was on Ortho Lo and developed fibroids in my breast from it (or so I believe...)

Its a dull pain and its tolerable so no need for the ER, which I guess is why my dr didnt pursue tests right then and there or even recommend I go the next day. Some attacks are worse than others. The pain I am having is the right side below my rib cage and even a little bit under, but no pain in the back. The Dr said it may be gall stones too which sometimes the stones will clog the opening of the gall bladder which causes pain.

All week I have had basically no appetite and only eat because my stomach is making so much noise. If I eat a full meal, I am nauseas.

I guess what I am really looking for is someone who has had gall bladder issues who may be able to relate to my symptoms so I know Im not crazy lol.

I had my gallbladder removed 7 years ago. It is also a heretitary thing and effects a lot more woman then men. In my case it runs in the family. Attacks would happen after eating a heavy meal. We went to Caio Baby and the next morning I was in the hospital! I had a few attacks before that, but that night was the most painful. Let me know if you have any questions.

wow! I am supposed to go out to dinner tonight..guess I am not going to Ciao Baby! jk

The last few months I have woken up in excruciating pain, or had pain when lifting heavy things, or bending or laying a certain way, but I just breathed through the pain and just wrote it off as 'gas.' The excurciating pain is happing more often now and I really should get this taken care of before DH and I start TTC.

I have dull pain after meals but nothing thats not tolerable. When you went to the ER, was it like a stabbing pain that wouldnt go away no matter what you did? Sitting, laying, changing positions?

It's funny because I wrote it off as gas too and I argued with my mom before going to the hospital because I didn't want to go there and have them say 'Uh try a tums, it's just gas!' My pain was on the right side, right under my ribs. It was dull, bad gas like pain, but that night it was excruciating, woke me up out of my sleep and I couldn't even touch my stomach. I had a stone that came out of the gallbladder and stuck in the duct so the doc said that's why I was in so much pain. The pain did go away though, I was in the ER for hours and by the time they took me in I wasn't in pain anymore.

My sister went through this, she was having stomach issues went for a sono and the doctor said it was her gall bladder but that she didn't have to have removed. A year later she woke up with severe pains in her stomach, my mom took her to the ER, they did a sono, she had 16 gall stones, so they removed her gall bladder then.

Definitely have it checked out

What kind of pain. Its on your right? Did they check that its not the appendix. I would have a CAT. I have been having pain on my right and left sides (though it started on the left), especially after eating, and it turns out to be severe irritable bowl. They had to put me on a fairly new and very strong medicine and I still got pain after over eating events like Christmas & Christmas Eve. Unfortunately in that area it could be a number of things. My friend had pain on her right and it turned out to be kidneys. Once she passed the stone she was fine. If you don't get any results from this I would suggest maybe seeing a GI or an OBGYN.

Good luck.

It could be a hernia too. My mom has pain on her right side when she lifts things and sometimes eating aggravates it.

i had dull pain in the right side, right by my ribs. slightly more towards the center of my stomach for about 2 years!!!

it started after i had a large meal.... i went to the doctor had a sono.. said it was a small kidney stone (it wasn't) it was a small cyst in my kideny... the pain was still there, dull , tolerable, but annoying.. felt very gassy..

had an x ray= nothing, 2 sonograms...cat scan , nothing.. just had another sono, nothing... then it just went away...

i was sure it was my gall baladder.. but nothing ever showed up....

but i am better now finally! it wasn't fun!!

I had this.

I went last year to get this checked out. It was a false alarm. They thought it was a gall bladder issue. I went for a sono and all was well.

It may be just gas or something. Don't fret. I am sure it's nothing.

I actually had to have my gallbladder removed when i was 16 because I too was getting horrible pains in my stomach and back! I had 3 gallstones and had to have emergency surgery. The doctors were really purplexed because I was so young and was in good shape and didn't have a bad diet or anything. Turns out it can be hereditary too. A few of my older relatives had the same thing that we realized later! Once they do the surgery you feel a million times better and the recovery is only a few weeks! Hope you feel better soon!!!
