I entered myself in a youtube contest

This is actually kind of embarrassing. I wanted to get more creative with the editing but this time of the year does not give me the time to do such a thing!

You post a video of yourself singing the latest Aimee Mann song. She picks which video she likes best and the winner gets to sing with her on stage!!! I would KILL for that!!! I totally sing it against her style (she's understated, I oversing like a musical theater-trained singer would do )

ETA: Aimee added my video and sent me a message saying so- but she never made a comment. She has on everyone else's! I know I'm a longshot though...my video is so uncreative and my voice is so wrong for this kind of music.

I am certain I won't win- my video is boring and isn't creative. I just couldn't figure out how to work iMovie!!

And to be honest, my voice is all wrong for the song- Aimee Mann is very understated, and I belt it out a little too much.

And I'm so sad Aimee never commented on my video but she commented on everyone else's!!! I guess she forgot

to be honest, i loved the way it sounded!! if she is understated, who wants you to do it EXACTLY like she does. thats not fun. you have a great tone to your voice. and i saw other videos. the videos were nothing spectacular, no special effects and what not. I saw some weird ones in fact, lol. don't be sad she didnt comment, at least she commented on your thread asking for help, lol. she prob forgot!!! and if she's commenting on everyone's, even ones that are kinda mediocre that I saw, theres nothing real special about it anyways, haha. your voice is great! if nothing happens with this, you should keep trying with other things. Come on, do Idol!

Seriously everyone - you are SO SWEET to leave comments on the website! I was NOT expecting that. I think Aimee is looking for a combination of talent and creativity- I just didn't have the creative side. I wanted to add annotations like in pop up video but I couldn't figure it out. My other idea was to have 4 versions of me - playing Rock Band (on playstation) instruments! Me at the mic, me on the drums, the guitar.... I was too lazy. Hell, it's the end of the school year and I'm exhausted!

Jess, the contest ends July 7. Don't count on me winning- seriously! You're so sweet!

And PS I'm too old for Idol! I was too old when it first began- by a year I think, and then they finally upped the age but even then I was too old. I'm happy enough being a music teacher.
