I finally

I finally

went to the gym yesterday. I saw some pictures and new it had to be done. I think I have the opposite of anorexia. I look in the mirror and see a thin person then i see photos and think who is that large girl, I have the same outfit as her, hair style, face oh wait that is me.

I feel like telling everyone I speak to 'no I'm not interested in Verizon long distance but I did go to the gym yesterday.'

I have been saying for so long I would go but then I would sit in with my boyfried Remota,we had a lot of catching up to do especially since the arrival of our beloved baby DVR.

How are you doing with the New Year health goals? I have not seen that thread in a while OOPS

Fit people what do you do at the gym?

Lastly, does the snow today excuse me from going to the gym tonight? I don't look good in white.

That's a perfectly valid reason to skip the gym.

Um, what new year health goals?
I've been struggling with working out. I used to be so dedicated, but I'm having trouble staying motivated. When I do hit the gym, I usually do some sort of interval workout on the treadmill--a mix of running and walking. I was running pretty good in the fall and lost it after the wedding, so I'm trying to build up my running again.
I've also been off and on with WW. This week I'm on again....doing core. It helped me a lot before the wedding...I just have to stick with it.

For you going to the gym!!!!!!

I try and go too now and I am down maybe like 6lbs but I need to step it up so I can get into a bikini in 3 months for our trip which I refuse to book til I start seeing a difference!!!

Re: I finally

YAY Catherine!!! Keep it up!! It's all about making it part of your routine.

At the gym I have been doing about 45-50 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the bike. I also mix in weights 2 times a week.

I suggest starting off small. The man I carpool with just started going to the gym again after a hiatus and now he does about 30 mins on the treadmill (intervals) and then 15 mins on the elliptical and.or bike. He has lost 2 pounds each week for the last month. I am a storng believer that walking/running is the best way to go (unless you have bad knees). Running can really transform your body in a short period of time.

I haven't been to the gym in ages either and I need to get my butt in gear! I'm joining a new gym closer to where we live now next week when I'm on vaca

Re: I finally

I go to the gym every day for a hour... (every week day... if I skip a day, I'll go on saturday or sunday) I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then 30 minutes weight training... alterating btwn upper body one day, shoulders and back another day & lower body the next.... If you're weight training, ALWAYS switch it up daily... don't always do the same exercises on the same body part... you burn more fat the other way.

start with a comfortable weight and do 3 reps of 12... as you get stronger, increase the weight.

once you get going, you'll up your workout little by little.

Yes, this post is late, but snow is definitely an excuse to avoid the gym

Re: I finally

Does physical therapy count as a workout? I leave feeling worse than when I go to the gym.

But I like the arc trainer. It is fun. Well, as fun as the gym can get.
