I go to the gym every day for a hour... (every week day... if I skip a day, I'll go on saturday or sunday) I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then 30 minutes weight training... alterating btwn upper body one day, shoulders and back another day & lower body the next.... If you're weight training, ALWAYS switch it up daily... don't always do the same exercises on the same body part... you burn more fat the other way.
start with a comfortable weight and do 3 reps of 12... as you get stronger, increase the weight.
once you get going, you'll up your workout little by little.
Cat, just take it one day at a time. I have been on a crazy long hiatus
I started taking cycling classes. I loved running and was slowly building up my speed and times but I have REALLy bad knees so if I run one day, I pay for it the next
I go 2x a day 4-5 days a week. In the morning I usually do cardio and during lunch i do what Caroline suggsted and break up my body parts.
What worked for y skinny arms was not the high reps low weight (though thtat helps my lower half), but higher weight and lower reps. When you get stronger, try working with weights that are hard enough that when you get to your last reps, they chould be difficult. I see people at the gym all the time lifting minimal weight like they are bored and its like DUDE thats NOT going to give you results. Really fit men and women WORK it.
Group classes are a good way to get into a routine too because of timing and scheduling. I really love my spin classes. Boxing is a great cardio and upper bod workout and some gyms like NYSC offer weigth trainign classes too-those are great because you can modify it to your needs; go heavier or lighter dpending on what you're after.
