I found a reason to use my kitchen aid mixer....

Mine was getting a little dusty.....and I came across a recipe on LIF for mashed potatoes made with your kitchen aid mixer.....I CANNOT even tell you how smooth they came out!!!!

Has anyone used theres a lot? or is everyone else's collecting dust!

Just started baking cookies and pulled mine out -- love it!! Makes baking so much easier.

Where's the yummy recipe you tried?

It was a simple from scratch mashed potatoes (I actually just bumped it on LIF to thank the girl who posted) I would've never thought to use it for mashed potatoes

this was it:

*********'I made 5 lbs of mashed potatoes in my kitchen aid for Thanksgiving.

I dumped the boiled potatoes in the bowl then added a stick and a half of butter, 1/2 a cup of hot milk then added salt & pepper to taste.

I let the kitchen aid run for about 10 minutes on the 2nd speed, stopping every now and then to scrape the sides of the bowl.

it came out SO creamy and delicious!!'**********

This sounds great! Now a reallllllly stupid question (I haven't opened my kitchenaid stand mixer yet)... which attachment do you use? I think the mixer comes with 2 or 3 (one is a dough hook so I know that's not it...).

for cookies, use the paddle attachment. the big whisk thing is good if you want to make a merange (i have poor spelling skills) or whipped cream. HTH

we use ours all the time, thanks to the pasta attachment we also got! still have yet to try the ice cream maker attachment. . . .

Glad to hear you were happy with your mash potatoes.
We never regostered for a mixer. DH does the baking and that happens less than 10X a year. We're more your ice cream eating couple.

I have a hand mixer for my atkins cheesecake, which is yummy...I passed on the stand mixer....we are married 1 month (well, I guess today!) and we still cannot figure out the cappuccino machine...we are so smart that our heads would implode with a stand mixer

I use my Kitchenaid mixer at least once a week. I found a no rise pizza dough recipe. I can make a pizza in less time then it takes to call the pizza place, order and pick up. And it is much tastier .
Now that it's the holidays I have been baking cookies.

What's the recipe?! I haven't used mine yet and need a good excuse!

I've been using my mixer for cookie doughs. Saturday I made a batch of cream puffs for a party and on Sunday used it to make a bundt cake.

Next week I want to try out the dough hook and make cinnamon knots out of a sweet yeast dough.

hmm i've been using the whisk for everything...maybe i'm wrong. i cant quite figure out what to use the paddle for! how do you know when to use which? i now have mine out on the kitchen counter (i live in an apt with not much space but its out of the way and i have been baking every weekend now) and dh did make pizza once with the dough hook! last weekend i made sweet potato pie (YUM!) and oatmeal raisin cookies
