I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

Did anyone have this problem?? I got an RSVP today for somebody. I did not invite this person with a guest. She put on her RSVP card her & Guest. OH MY GOD!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! THEY ARE SO RUDE!! What is the rule of thumb for this? Is every single person supposed to be invited with a guest???

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

We didn't invite someone w/ a guest because to tell you the truth his companion is a drunk & a bimbo (She has a husband or something to the effect) But sure enough she sent the respone back w/ both there names on it!! So, we just let him bring the tramp!! she actually behaved that day! (Thank-God)

I invited every other single w/ s guest.

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

If you can afford to I would say invite with a guest. It took me a long time to come to this way of thinking. However if it is a cost issue then you must simply tell her that you can only accomodate her.

I did this with someone who was given the and guest option but put 3 people.

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

We didnt invite all singles with guests. Only the people we knew were with someone, and the bridal party was invited with guests. All the guests add up.
I had someone invite a guest and they were NOT invited. I think it is very RUDE and inconsiderate. But they called after they sent it in, and I said it was ok, even though it still ticked me off

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

I invited someone with guest and they replied
WITH AN EXTRA GUEST AND A TODDLER
(this was at a child free wedding)
Some people just don't have a clue.
Good luck to you.

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

You have complete control over this situation. Just call the person and say 'I think there is a misunderstanding. We are looking forward to your attending our wedding, but due to financial constraints and room limitations were are unable to invite you with a guest. We hope that you will still be joining us for the celebration'

If you do nothing, then don't complain since you can do something about this rude situation.

I had a similar situation. We invited a couple and on their RSVP they wrote their daughter's name and their son's name with a guest. I don't know what people are thinking.

some people are clueless when it comes to proper etiquette. If you are against this person bringing a guest, then I would definitely place a call.

I LIKE Michelle31 answer. It is a nice way to let them know that their guest cannot come, unless you are ok with the financial situation.

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

Something similar happened to me, but with kids. I had printed on my invitation ADULT Reception immediately following. Pretty self explanitory right? Well my cousin responded for herself, her husband, and her 5 year old. I had to call er and tell her there must be a misunderstanding. She said ok, she wouldn't bring her. Well her parents called my parents 2 more times to ask if my cousin could bring her daughter. HELLO!

Point being, I believe that invting people with guests is your call. I invited everyone with a guest but I don't think that you have to. If someone is single there is no reason that they have to be invited with a guest. Remember, there is ALWAYS going to be someone who has something to say so you need to do whatever you want.

Re: I got an RSVP today-Did this happen to anyone??

It didn't happen to me. But it did happen to my brother. He called up his friend. My brother said 'Who is the guest?' The friend said 'It's a surprise.' My brother said 'Well surprise... the guest isn't coming.'

If it is a single person and they are involved in a relationship then yes, they can bring a guest. BUT if it's just a 'friend' no.
Maybe you or your FH can call them and find out who it is. Then just nicely tell the person 'We didn't invite many people with a guest. If I get cancelations I will call you and let you know, if you can bring a guest or not.' somethign along those lines.
Good luck!
