I hate it when people...
...are CONSTANTLY late! Late at being places, late at replying. UGH.More specifically...my BIL and his fiance are always late. I understand that they are busy people, but they expect that the world should stop for them. I e-mailed them two weeks ago asking if they would like to come over for dinner the day before Father's Day, and I'll make FIL a big brunch. I told them it was absolutely fine if they could not make it (they both have jobs where they travel), but to please let me know either way. BIL's fiance e-mailed me a few days after I sent the e-mail and called her, and she said that they have plans with friends that day, and that they can come over at 7:30pm. This might not seem like a big deal, but here's why it is:
1) Rivka's bedtime is 7:30 (which they are well aware of), so we're busy for the hour before hand giving her a bath/reading her a story; I wouldn't be able to prepare the nice dinner that I would like to make for FIL, which is why I suggested brunch.
2) BIL and his fiance are ALWAYS late, so we probably won't eat dinner until 9.
So I e-mail BIL's fiance back and tell her that we can always do BRUNCH next week since they are already busy, and I explained why 7:30 is not a good time for us. I, of course, said it in a really nice way, and told her that I'm sure FIL won't mind waiting a week (it was much nicer than that in the e-mail I sent), and I sent her a text telling her to check her e-mail. That was that.
TODAY, DH gets a text from his brother that says 'Hey, not sure if you talked to (fiance), but we're coming to dinner tomorrow at 7:30, see you then.'
I told DH to tell them we aren't doing it tomorrow, but he feels bad and I have a feeling they are going to wind up coming anyway. If he was the one cooking dinner, it wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm the one that cooks! I just feel like it's so rude for them to constantly change plans up until the last minute. Maybe it's more annoying to me because it keeps happening over and over, but I just hope that everyone replies late to their wedding
. ETA: I just realized what a long rant this was! If you read the whole thing, thanks for reading
.

HAHAA!!
I'd call her and tell her straight up why you arent doing it that day/time, and if she'd like to attend when you're doing the brunch, she's more than welcome. She probably didnt 'get' the email and text you sent her lol

Re: I hate it when people...
i would have DH call them back and put his foot down and still stand by your first decision - no is no and that is not a good time for you both or for your baby

DH and I talked about it and came up with another plan. We're going to have dinner with FIL earlier, and then serve dessert when BIL and his fiance come by later on. That way, I'm not a ball of fury
. DH is going to talk to his brother about his constant change of plans and being late in a couple of days...hopefully that will change something.By the way, we just found out the reason that they aren't able to make it earlier is because they just want to spend the day with each other. I get that, but this is for Father's Day, and their father is seriously one of the best and most generous people I know. The least BIL can do is show up because it's all his dad wants!
