I have to vent about my awful weekend so that I don't cry about it.

What are fibrocystic breasts?

Fibrocystic breasts are characterized by lumpiness and usually discomfort in one or both breasts. The condition is very common and benign, meaning that fibrocystic breasts are not malignant (cancerous). Fibrocystic breast disease (FBD), now referred to as fibrocystic changes or fibrocystic breast condition, is the most common cause of 'lumpy breasts' in women and affects more than 60% of women. The condition primarily affects women between the ages of 30 and 50 and tends to become less of a problem after menopause.

The diagnosis of fibrocystic breasts is complicated by the fact that the condition can vary widely in its severity. In some women, the symptoms of fibrocystic breast condition can be very mild with minimal breast tenderness or pain. The symptoms can also be limited in time, usually occurring only premenstrually. It may not even be possible to feel any lumps when the breasts are examined by the woman herself or by her doctor. In other women with fibrocystic breasts, the pain and tenderness are constant, and many lumpy or nodular areas can be felt throughout both breasts.

Are you between those age ranges??? I would just see someone else for a second opinion anyway. Have you had any lumpyness or pain/tenderness????

I'm 30, but I swear I don't feel a lump in the world, and like I said, its not like I'm chesty so I'd think I would feel one. There aren't too many hiding places in there.

Then I would think about going to see someone else about it. Second opinions aren't going to hurt.

I'm so sorry Heather...that is all so sad...

I would say go get a second opinion...While I have heard of that condition before, with the other things you posted about that dr, I just wouldn't feel 100% comfy...atleast if you talk to someone else you can be more certain...

Hope this week is better than last...

Oh that is terrible....I am so sorry you arent have a good week

Are you going for a 2nd opinion

I looked online and it says its pretty much nothing? I think this office is just money hungry and want me to go back. I don't even feel any lumpiness. I'm an A cup for gods sake.

it's not bad. I don't have fibrocystic but i do have a tiny fibroid, which i did feel and did hurt and DID get further aggravated with caffiene - coffee just aggravates the pain. My sister has fibrocystic breasts... it's relatively common and actually good b/c your dr will always check them - mine said if it hurts, that means they are 99% non-cancerous. Mine doesn't really hurt anymore and i cut out coffee a lot but still drink it. If you aren't feeling pain I wouldn't worry.

I am so sorry for what happened.

As far as the boobies - I had that condition once. I had to go get a sonogram of my breasts, and they said it was nothing. They said that sometimes cysts come and go, but I now go to the gyno every 6 months instead of yearly to be checked out thoroughly. It probably is nothing. I have a a few drinks like you were 24 tonight!

So sorry to hear about all of this .....

The boob thing doesn't sound serious -- I know it's a shock to hear but from the girls who posted on here, it sounds more to be a pain in the butt than anything ... hope this is the case for you too.
