I know this one should be for the preggo board...

but i like your opinions better

I have always been one to know EVERYTHING. I hate surprises.

For some reason, I decided when I got pregnant that I wanted a surprise. Reasons were 1.) we don't have an extra bedroom to paint and decorate and 2.) I really never did a surprise in my life and read how wonderful the experience is and it helps with labor.

DH REALLY, I MEAN, REALLY, LIKE NAGGING ME 8 TIMES A DAY, wants to know.

Up until a few weeks ago I was pretty firm about it. What's making me slide to other side with this is I keep having gender dreams, and they are starting to drive me crazy!

Also, I got all these coupons and want to shop so bad.

We have a level II sono schedule for wednesday - the 29th, when we could find out if we wanted to.

Should I:

1.) Do the surprise, it will be worth it in the end

2.) Have the tech find out, put it in an envelope and you and DH open at your own private time

3.) Find out right then and there, but keep it to you and DH

or

4.) FIND OUT ALREADY!

Such a personal decision. For me I think I would want to know so I can plan accordingly. Otherwise everything in the house and all the gifts will be green and yellow. haha

Is very personal all I can do is give you my opinion on what I would do. I would Find out immediately...for decoration purposed and to be prepared for when the time comes.

I think that if you been waiting for so long mines well wait for the surprise.

I agree with the ladies above...it's a personal decision. I don't think that I would be able to wait and see...but again that's me. I also like the idea of having the tech put the gender in an envelope to open with whomever you chose. I voted for that cause I can see myself doing that with my DH and each of our immediate families.

I'd be torn as well. I really think I want it to be a surprise- more suspense that way. But thats just me. Go with your gut! You could always have the lab technicaian write it down in case you change your mind.

I'm glad I found out I was having a girl, but if I ever have a baby again, I want to be team green! I think it was nice for the first one because I didn't have anyone commenting on my body telling me I have such a 'girl belly' or 'boy belly'...I would have punched someone in the face . Now that I went through pregnancy, I'm a little less self-conscious and can care less what people say...so I think team green is so much fun and worth the surprise! Either way, the outcome is a baby! .

if you want it to be a surprise, i'd have the tech put it in an envelope and not tell you ... that way, if you change your mind about wanting the surprise, you could just open up that envelope and find out ... or not.

i'm not sure if i'd tell DH about said envelope though cause then he'd be even more annoying

as for shopping, buy gender-neutral things (ie: yellow, patterned, etc) and enjoy

i wouldn't want to know. I think it'll be such an amazing feeling to find out when giving birth. There are so few surprises in life, and this is one I know I want to experience.

For my first one, I'd want to know. I like to be able to plan things, but that's just me. We want four kids...so on number three or four, we'd probably go for a surprise just to experience everything. However, I think it is an EXTREMELY personal decision and you will know what's best for you!

i always thought i'd want to be team green but then my brother and SIL were. my poor adorable niece wore green and orange for the first 6 months of her life and she's practically bald!
Joking aside, I'd want to know for the first, and maybe not knwo for the second

ITA with this... such a special moment.

plus, it really creeps me out when people call the baby by their name before it's even born. my coworker was having 'baby kaitlin' and everyone kept calling her 'kaitlin' for months before she even entered the world. 'how's kaitlin today??' ... um, i assume so long as the pregnancy is going well, she's doing fine, nice and comfy in there. it just didn't sit right with me.

ETA: i know some people don't share the name even if they find out the sex, but more likely than not, epople will hound you to know the name once they know if it's a boy or a girl. that's also something i'd prefer to keep between DH and I. people can judge the name and our child after he/she is born lol

My SIL did this...all the nurses and doctor knew they didn't know the sex. She had to ask them like 5 times when the baby popped out and finally got an answer when she said 'What did I have!?!?!?!?'

It's the biggest surprise of your life!!!!

When my sister had my first niece it was so exciting waiting in the waiting room. One First time dad came out and was like 'jake is here' and the family members were happy. about a half hour later another first time dad came out and screamed 'IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!' the family members went crazy!!!!!!
Same with my family when my BIL came out!!! I was SOOOOOOO Exciting!!!

At that moment I decided that I would NEVER find out.

Also, finding out early IS a surprise .. so youre still getting a surprise.

And during all the months of pregnancy how fun is it to shop for a girl or boy!!!

I agree with the other girls that it is a personal decision. I always wanted to not know and then hear the doctor say 'it's a _____' with my first and then the other one I would know about.

DH and I had this conversation and I thought about it some more. I think I'd like us both to find out together what we would be having when we get preggers. My sister is an OB and I'm TERRIFIED that we'll not want to know and she'll slip from seeing a sonogram or something, so finding out is fun.

I actually thought about my mom finding out and then her planning the shower and me finding out when I walked into the baby shower. Thought it would be cute but my MIL can't keep a secret for anything and I'm sure someone would end up telling us.

We're far off from having a baby (like a year) but at this point I would want DH and I to find out together whether it be in an envelope at home or at the doctor's office.

Have the tech write down the gender and give it to you in an envelope. Bring the envelope to a bakery and ask for the bakery to bake a cake with vanilla cake inside and to use food coloring in the cake batter to color the INSIDE of the cake either pink or blue (based upon whether you're having a boy or girl)...then have the cake covered in frosting so that you and DH could cut the cake at home in private and find out what you're having based on the color of the inside.
