I love my DH but.....
good Lord is he messy. I am a neat freak. The first few weeks after our honeymoon when he came home from work he would leave his briefcase on the floor in my living room, throw his keys on the floor, leave his shoes everywhere, dirty (and clean) clothes on the floor in my bedroom. I was getting so upset and we had a huge fight about it.One day I hid his keys and his briefcase, didnt wash his clothes etc, and he got so angry.
Granted now he puts his briefcase in the closet and his keys on the keyring, but good God if you go into his 'offoce' its a freakin mess, I mean a mess. I told DH that I was not his mother and was not going to clean up after his a s s anymore.
Now today we are having our dresser delievered (FINALLY!!) and my Mom is going to the house to wait for it, I go pass his 'office today' I swear to God it looks like a hurricane hit it. Papers and files everywhere, not only that but a box of cheese its and an empty 2 liter bottle of coke!!!! I flippppppped this morning, I cannot live like that, I'm going to have to break down and clean that room. Worse yet, my mother is going to see it and the delievery guys, I'm cringing I'm so embarrassed.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one with a 'messy Marvin'

Re: I love my DH but.....
My dining room table looks like a giant filing cabinet. Wait scratch that my entire house looks like one giant filing cabinet. You can tell where Frank has been by the paper trail. Piles of it!!God forbid he put the coffee cup in the sink. No it's on the counter. We are currently missing a set of keys to the jeep. I have no idea where he put them. Cause he did not put them away!! Empty soda cans all over the kitchen. I could go on and on. Yup I'm right there with you!! Frustrating!!
I'm always afraid what if someone just drops by... oh the horror!! I feel your pain!!

Re: I love my DH but.....
Hubby keeps his office messy, I close the door, its his play pen so if he wants to keep it messy, why add another thing to my worry about list. There are bigger fish to fry.Stace does the office have a door, if so close it, remember you will have this man for the rest of your life, don't let something that is not bothering him bother you. If the general aread was a mess then I would say yes get worked up. As long as there are not rats or roaches or anything, then let it go.
I remember they say, choose your battles wisely. Sometimes the things that are not in our control we will just have to come to the realization that it is not worth the effort. CLOSE THE DOOR. I am sure his space was always this way. Did you only just notice it???

Re: I love my DH but.....
It's a matter getting into a routine. As difficult it is for you to see all this stuff laying about is how difficult it is for your DH to change what he's been doing for so long.Give him time and work with him to set things up so it's more natural for him to put things away and it might go easier.
For example, DH used to leave his keys, wallet, beeper, cell, etc all over the counter the desk when he walks in. He was forever losing things. So I got him a decorative leather box to put all these things in when he gets home so it's not all over and he knows where his stuff is but it's still near the door where he likes it.

Re: I love my DH but.....
yes he does have a door, and I close it all the time, but to me its the thought of whats behind it that kills me. I'm in no way angry with him anymore not since he started to clean up after himself in the rest of the house. I'm just amazed that he could stand to be in a mess lol. But oh man may God help him if I see ONE bug.....lolWelcome New Vendors
