Re: I need advice...
1. Its not like its a 200 trip it will be 1k just for air and hotel for us. We then have to give a gift, eat and entertain ourselves along with all our other friends.
Valid point. BUT he did send out STDs and you could have planned accordingly.
2. DH and I went to Vegas last year and since we aren't gamblers we were kind eh about Vegas. We had fun, but I don't see it as a place to go back to so frequently..
See, I see it as 'I'm not fond of the place so I don't want to go.' People might have said - 'well, I don't like the food at the RH so I don't want to go.' Not really a good enough reason in my book.
3. This may sound horrible, id rather take the money and put it toward a beach vaca or something for the house, like furniture we need...
I could have used all the money I spent on friends' weddings towards things I needed.
This is just my opinion but it just sounds like you're reaching for reasons not to go and if you don't want to go, don't. If you really wanted to be there, you'd find a way.
Don't go if you don't want to go.... I wouldn't tell him your reasons though!
eta: I wouldn't feel guilty either!!!

Re: I need advice...
Coming from someone who HAD a destination wedding...I wouldn't go. lol. If you really aren't super close with him anymore, I'd send a gift and call it a day.
We only invited our very close friends (and family) and those who couldn't make it, we totally understood. When having a DW you have to be understanding. It does cost a lot more for the guests and we would never want someone to come if they truly didn't want to. A nice card and a thoughtful gift would be my suggestion.

thanks for your input. Its not that I jsut don't want to go for the reasons I said its also a lot of money... My friends that are going are making a trip out of it and have not been to Vegas so they are taking advantage of it. Another thing I forgot to mention back in December he texted all of us to tell us NOT too book our trips yet because they may cancel or postpone the wedding because they had the chance of losing their jobs. Just 3 weeks ago they decided to go for it and continue with the plan. Thats another reason I'm a little worried, what happens if they lose their jobs and can't do the wedding?
All in all, I'd love to go, but can't see spending the money at this time for it.
