I started to throw away wedding stuff...and now I'm sad
I tossed out the million and one bridal magazines, planning ideas, pictures, contracts, extra supplies.........and I almost cried...it was so depressing. It's funny because after two years of planning the wedding...I couldn't wait for it to come....now that its over I am sad and BORED...Now I have way to much time on my hands...Did anyone else feel this way?

we need a newly arrived brides thread so we can give support to all of you, to let you know, it is ok to feel this way. There are some of us like me, that was too happy for it to be over and done with. If you need something to do let me know. What were you doing before you planned your wedding, go back to doing that. Live, enjoy your freedom etc.

I went through this too, but it's so much better now. First, I still have so many things to do still with the wedding, creating my album, awaiting the video, etc. . so all is not gone just yet You still even have Thank Yous to pick and mail out.
Other than that, I am following shamma's advice, and living my life. I'm enrolled back in school, and doing other things I had no time for while I was wedding planning. I am not depressed at all anymore, but I was for a while, and posted about it too. It is so much better now, trust me, the feeling will pass and you will just be enjoying your new married life happilly with your hubby

I felt sad when everything was over too. But I didn't throw my stuff away. I saved it and when a friend got engaged I passed it along to her.
Interestingly, the stuff that I had was passed on to me from my sister and she got it from her friend who also got it from a friend. So my wedding stuff got tons of use.

I did feel sad when all the planning was over with. I like LisaRose's suggestion. If you do a wedding scrapbook you can relive everything over again.

I threw out bridal magazines, vendor brochures of the ones that we did not used. I kept everything that we used for our wedding day. I kept all our wedding contracts, receipts, vendors brochures of the vendors that we did used. I also kept all our wedding cards, envelopes and paper keepsakes such as RD invite stationery, programs, favors, etc. I want a good living memory of all the items used for our wedding in preparation and planning. I'm a sentimental pack rat. I've created a nice scrapbook of all these items which they do not take a lot of space in our one bedroom cooperative apartment.
The only things I'd threw out were bridal magazine and vendor brochures that we did not used. Some bridal magazine that had calendar or timeline check lists I'd tore out of the magazines and kept. The bridal magazines and vendor brochures take up a lot of storage space.
Take upon a hobby, decorate your new home with your new husband, plan your future with him!

I cried on our wedding night!!!! How sad is that. We were in the hotel room opening up the cards and it hit me that it was all over. We were only engaged for 7 months so we had a VERY quick planning process. But then I started to laugh at how ridiculous I was being. I still love to look @ our wedding photos and can't wait till we get back the album -but I'm so happy to be living with DH and enjoy my life with him so much.
I am also scrapbooking the whole engagement through wedding event- I can't wait to start doing it again (I've taken a long break).. that's a really good way to go through every moment and relive all of them :)

I went through the same thing. When I started throwing things out I was so upset that it was all over. It's funny, the couple of weeks before the wedding I couldn't wait for it all to be over. Now I would love to go back and do it all again.

I kept everything! It made me too sad. And it still does almost a year later. I can't even really look at my pics without feeling sad. It was so special and warm...I feel like nothing could compare to our first dance in my heart.
Although...feeling your baby kick comes pretty **** close! There are so many special things to come. Sometimes I think we should dedicate ourselves to planning other special moments the way we did our weddings. After our wedding I was so down, so I planned a Cocktails and Caroling party at our house around Christmas-time. I printed lyrics and made little books, got recipes for warm cider drinks, decorated, got a great tree, bought special candles, arranged a grab -bag...It felt good to put myself into something. Not to pass time, but really because every event should have your heart in it!. I have sworn to plan great showers for friends, birthday parties, the baby's christening...things like that. All great moments and events should have our dedication! And it will give you things to look forward to.
