i think my gown is ruined
i went to pick up my wedding dress from VOGUE CLEANERS IN CORAM ( note they farm the leather out to a guy who supposidly does leather cleaning for alot of cleaners in suffolk so beware)and the gown is just destroyed. there are what appear to me to be chemical burns allover the deerskin. the leather has greyed and it has what appears to be a shoe polish type paint on it.
i am just horrified.
i dont know what to do i wrote to the woman who made the dress and am waiting for her reply. has anyone else ever cleaned deerskin?
it is normal for this to happen to it?
i just want to shoot this guy - i mean if he didnt think he could handle it ( i know a leather wedding gown is an oddity) he really should have said something.
looking for a rock to hide under - just cant handle this .

Re: i think my gown is ruined
hi touristwell after talking to the lady who made it it looks like the cleaner royally screwed up and doesnt want to admit it
looks like we have a fight on our hands being that the dres was well over 3,000 i dont think the cleaner is going to reimburse me for damages.
i am waiting to hear from the lady who tanned the skins as to what could be wrong
this royally sucks

Re: i think my gown is ruined
Did you have to sign a waiver before they sent it out? I know the dry cleaner I worked for in high school made everyone sign a waiver. She also made the guy inspect every piece before he took it to make sure that they could do it.There are some things that I know were common things that can happen to cleaning leather- the pores of the skin getting bigger, paint cracking and the texture feeling different, but I have never heard of anything that severe before.
Did the dry cleaner offer to spot clean the stained areas? Was the dress itself really dirty or was it the leather that was dirty?
Sry you are going through this.

Wow, that really stinks! You definitley have to fight the cleaners. They ruined your gown and now they need to make it right!

Re: i think my gown is ruined
they didnt make me sign a waverthey were only suppose to clean the under side of the leather because it was dirty from being dragged around all night
what they did was to clean the entire thing and spray it white - ( the leather isnt white it is a cream color ) i actually spoke to the woman who tanned the leather and she told me the guy didnt know what he was doing because her leathers arent sprayed they are bleached in the tanning process there is no white paint on the dress.
so it looks like we need to go to court - anyone know a good attorney?
