if i asked you 'company name?' what would you say

once again (yes, this does happen kinda often) i had a customer call and blab my ear off. when i asked 'name of the company' (so i can look them up) they tell me 'XXXXX scales' which is the company I work for.
i was like 'um, no, the company YOU work for' he starts giggling saying 'oh, silly me'

are people really that dumb? why would i ask you the name of my company if you're calling me?

Yes, people are this dumb. I get about 30 of these calls daily. I also love calls like 'Hey, is John there.' Of course there's a John here. We have over 300 employees in the NY office alone, forget worldwide.

not that people arent dumb... but sometimes the brain and the mouth arent always on the same page... we all do it it doesnt mean we're dumb...

This office caters to a LOT of immigrants and OOT-ers, so there are usually mistakes in communication which drive me INSANE. I sit here and roll my eyes so often that i think my eyes are going to detach from brain and fall out of my sockets.

I do agree that a lot of people are dumb and generally ridiculous, but keep in mind, we've all asked dumb questions in our lifetime and there are certainly people who call us/have called us dumbassses, so now the shoe is on the other foot.

like i say A LOT of dumb things... i know this.
but like... when the same person calls and gives me the same answer.. its kinda like you wanna do this to their face
(there are a few ppl that have done this in the past, but this one has done this a few times)

I get this all the time. Or someone calls and goes 'someone called me from this number' and I tell them 'we have 3 jobs going on this site, do you know anyone who works as an electrician?' And they go 'no, but someone called me from this number.' I say 'There are 50 people on this jobsite at least, and everyone works out in the field, I'm sorry I would need more information.' And then they get an attitude like 'you're not helpful at all, I'll just listen to my messages.' REALLY!!!???!!! You have a message from the person that you don't know who called you, why not listen and THEN call me back! I HATE PEOPLE!!!!
