If one more person asks...

Original post by Goldi1021

...'How's married life?'

I may just have to throw somethng at them.

I simply answer 'I am not divorced so it is SWELL thank you very much!'

They get a lil surprised at my response but what the 'H E Double Hockey Sticks' ELSE am I supposed to say to that?

Anyone else tired of this question?

Sooooo tired of it too!!!

If I don't give a response that is all cheery. They are like, 'Uh oh, what's wrong?'
It's so annoying!

It's even worse when it's followed up with 'So when are you having children? You know you are not getting any younger!' Gee thanks...but...yeah...I...know!

People are already telling me I will have fertility problems because I am 36 - NICE right? Gee, my mom had 2 pregnancies after 37. I am not worried, why are they?

Crap Lesli - still with this???

Geez - its time to make them turn different colors - if they insist on inquiring about your bedroom activities, I would REALLY let them have it - say something like - geez - I dunno, with all this anal we are having, I doubt I'll get pregnant anytime soon!

I'm sick of it also.....

What surprises me more is that no one in our families have bothered us at all about having kids, but strangers & co-workers are bothering us about it. WTH? Maybe there's more to life than going the typical married with 2 kids, dog & a house route, people!!!

I just got asked when DH and I were going to 'drop the bucket' ?????????

Apparently this means have a baby, since I had just asked that person how their new baby was.

It is kind of a stupid question! I really never know what to say.

What about this question:

'Do you feel any different, being married?'

I have been asked that question too.

Liza my dear, it never ends. First people may have thought I was a spinster living with 20 cats or a lesbian because I married so late, now my ovaries are prunelike and the only eggs I will see will be the roe on my Boston Rolls when I have sushi.

I may use your 'anal' line though.

Yeah, I hate the 'how's married life?' thing--if I just say 'fine' I feel like people start thinking I'm hiding something. As for children, we seem to have many people who are afraid to ask. They think I'm already way too old, or something.

I don't mind it at all. Actually, I love any opportunity I get to smile about it.

Goldi - Boy I got alot of that too!

DH and I were watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding the other night and during the Easter scene, when Toula's Aunt was saying 'We NEVER thought this would happen for you, NEVER' DH looked at me and said.... 'Didn't I hear your grandmother say that to you?' And yes... it's true... she DID say that, as did a couple of other 'older' family members. According to them, I should have been married 15 years ago, with 5 or more kids by now. Nice Grandma... Thanks!
