If you could no longer....

If you could no longer....

COOK.... and ONLY DH was allowed in the kitchen, what would you live on?

We'd be eating PBJ or grilled chicken, and drinking protein shakes or some kickass cappuccinos/lattes/americanos/espresso!

Funny thought!

Hmmmm....grilled chicken, turkey sandwiches. Soup for lunch.

Oatmeal for breakfast- which is fine, I eat that anyway.

Chinese takeout and grilled chicken salads from the Italian place down the block.

Outback.

actually, much of the same food as we currently eat. As soon as we started dating, I'm been training my sous chef. He can't do complicated things (like my 30 ingredient tomato sauce, or indian food), but he CAN make about 70% of what we normally eat... including things like chicken cordon bleu, our patented mexican stirfry + homemade guacamole, greek salads + baked chicken tenders with homemade mustard dipping sauce..... He also can make blueberry and cheese pierogies, but we don't eat them (too fattening!)

home cooking is obviously very important to us

DH is actually the one that cooks...i stay far away from the kitchen...which is why i can't wait til he moves back home!!! I can only make assorted pasta dishes for so long!! haha...when he's here he makes everything from spanakopeta (sp?) to stir fry...i always joke that i married a good wife! haha

Lots of good food-DH does 99% of the cooking in this house

Re: If you could no longer....

our chicken cordon bleu is a bit modified for a polish (pro-bacon) diet.....

thin sliced chicken breasts
a good cheese (compte, a good swiss... whatever's nice in the shop, and meltable)

1 slice bacon for east chicken breast

breadcrumbs

Preheat oven to 350.
Fry the bacon in a pan. (don't clean pan when your done... use those priceless drippings for the chicken!) Cut the cheese into pieces roughly into 1/4' x 3/4' x 2' pieces. Fold bacon in 1/2, grab a piece of cheese, and then wrap the chicken around them. Secure with toothpicks and bread.

Fry chicken in drippings, just until breading is golden. Transfer to a foil-lined tray and bake for about 35 min, or until chicken cooked through...

chicken tenders with dipping sauce

Chicken:
1/2 qt buttermilk
1T poultry seasoning
1T paprika
1.5 lbs chicken tenderloins / stirfry
salt

combine all ingredients. Submerge chicken at room temp for about 15 min.
Preheat oven to 375.

coating:
about 3 cups crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1T paprika
cayenne to taste
1T poultry seasoning
1/8-1/4 cup oil

Combine all coating ingredients in a bowl.
Dab off excess buttermilk and coat in coating. But on a foil lined baking tray. Bake until chicken cooked, roughly 35 min.

'her' mustard sauce (lowfat)
equal parts honey + guldens mustard

'his' mustard sauce
2 parts mayo +1 part honeymustard with horseradish (honeycup uniquely sharp mustard-red cap)

both are yum. The chicken tenders are pretty healthy...

LOTS OF THINGS!!!!
The real question for us would be if DH could no longer cook what would we live on. Then the answer would be much more restrictive.
