We got engaged there! We are also going for a day hike and lunch for our Anniv. next month, since we are totally broke. We can't afford to stay there again just yet. We LOVED it there, it is the most relaxing place. There is no tv in the room.... very romantic!

I went to SUNY New Paltz and spent many a weekend hiking around those mountains... I think DH and I will go up there for our 1 year anniversary- I LOVE that area.

sassy...book now...I bet being on the Travel Channel booked them up

shamma...you could stay in New Paltz or in Woodstock/Saugerties area...

there are great places to stay the night...but you can spend the day at Mohonk

Erica, that is what Roger was saying, b/c for him to golf nine holes if you don't stay there is $15 but to stay the night its like $250, what are they?? lining the sheets with gold

I went to Marist College (which is right across the river from New Paltz) and we used to go to Mohonk for parents' weekend visits, and I used to go there to hike with my college sweetheart. I LOVE it there...the views of the valley are unbelievable!

Such nice memories...

We were going to go on our HM there, but chose Maine instead. It's definitely on our 'must go there' list.

My father has been there and says it's AMAZING.

Too bad we can plan a Newlywed Couples GTG there!!

My family & I have been going there since I was little. It is beautiful at any time of year. They have awesome rock trails to climb, paddleboats, rowboats, horse & carriage rides, major walking trails, tennis, a beach, beautiful gardens and then in the winter cross country skiing and ice skating. You can go for the day. I believe it is up to $40. pp for lunch. You can stay all day & use the grounds & then they have a lunch (buffet) and then 4 p.m. tea (where you can drink tea/coffee) with cookies & sit on the big rockers on the porch.

It is so 'back in time' & the scenary is gorgeous. I highly recommend it.

They sometimes have special theme weekends here too (although it is Quite expensive to stay overnight), but do realize it INCLUDES all 3 meals.
