what are you taking? My doctor said that my blood test shows low Iron. I'm not suprised b/c I had low iron a few years ago, when i was around 14 I was taking iron pills, but i remember that they were too heavy and would upset my stomach. My doctor said that maybe a good multi vitamin would be sufficient enough, i suspect the low iron count again because i recently stopped eating meat. I'm not taking any multivitamins and I don't know if that would be enough to bring my iron level up.
Any suggestions? TIA

Sorry :( I remember hating the effect iron pills had on my body too...I'm going to also start eating alot more greens and trying to squeeze in a few servings everday. However when we start TTC im probably going to have to be taking the iron pills as well.

Im going to try and make those veggie juices and down those real fast
Thank you for the list...i also read that dried figs are amazingly healthy and just by snacking on 4 dried figs you can get over a quarter of your daily iron fix in one hit! So if you just eat a few servings of figs a day that will help bring up your iron count.

Try a prenatal vitamin, or eat more spinach

Milana, you should definitely eat a LOT of spinach! My dad used to make me spinach when my iron was low and I didn't feel well, because sometimes meat was too heavy for me. Spinach is iron rich. Add it to salads or sautee it. You are probably better having it raw, but it still has iron each way.

I have low iron too. The doctor gave me a list of food to eat, which I have since lost, and also told me to drink Guiness.

Re: If your body has low iron....
Try going to GNC and getting a natural iron supplement-i had a hard time with the pills b/c they were heavy, but was told to go to GNC and take half the pill that came in the bottle. At least I think it was GNC also eat lots of green foods, leafy veggies-that will help. I am severely anemic and its the only thing that tends to make me feel better. Take an iron supplement, its not a vitamin-and the veggies. When you take the pill you have to eat something sort of heavy-kind of like ibuprofen-drink milk with it, eat pasta, etc.

Thanks ladies for the info..
I actually love spinach! And eat spinach salad almost everyday. I'll see how my iron level is if i change my diet a bit and be more conscious about eating iron rich foods.
