I'm proud to say - we are buying a house!!!

Hi ladies, it's been quite a while and hope everyone is well.

DH and I have been very busy searching for the perfect house and we have found it We are closing on June 16 and to date, we've had a home, termite and well inspection done, got our mortgage paperwork going, the appraisal is being worked on as well as a title search and what-not.

The house is 2,400 sq.ft., 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 2 car garage, custom master bath, fireplace, cathedral ceilings, shed, it sits on 1.25 acres on a hill and is half wooded.

I just wanted to share my enthusiasm and I hope everyone is having a wonderful year

What I was trying to say before I lost my page is that we got so much more for our money out of NY... I get paid $1 less per hour, but since taxes are lower, my paycheck is larger... the RE taxes on this house are $1300/year! My mom paid more for that for her little co-op

If you are considering leaving LI for a change of pace or a better life, don't hesitate - just do it! We are so glad we did

Hiya Miss Lori! Unfortunately, we won't be travelling to NY until next year... once we close on the house, we have painting, carpet, yard work to do, a quick trip to Nashville in July and then stay home and enjoy our place. I will let you know if we end up coming up And if you are heading south, let me know!! I'm half way between LI and FL

Hey Jean and Dina - we are doing well and really enjoying ourselves. This is so exciting to us - something I dreamed about my whole life... never mind the wedding, I just wanted a house! :rofl: This is the first one I have lived in and owned and am very excited.

How are you all doing? Are we all preparing for our 1st anniversaries?! Since we are closing 4 days after our's, we will prolly just go to the Aquarium in Wilmington NC for the day. I think I'm going to make it an anniversary tradition since we went to the Mystic Aquarium on our first honeymoon.. and our 1st anniversary... we'll have to keep doing it :rofl:

SO glad to hear it! Owning a house is so exciting....except I keep looking at ours and all we HAVE to fix up--yours looks amazing though!!!

Jean - that's an awesome anniversary trip! We're taking a 1-day trip to Wilmington to the aquarium lol Since it's less then 1 week before the closing, it's better then nothing
