I will answer wholeheartedly without a doubt- YES!!!!!!
I am not saying my husband is a lazy b*a**s**t*a*rd or anything, but I pretty much do everything. I mean he will wash the dishes, do some cleaning, but I am the one that makes sure things are in order. I cook, I do the grocery shopping, the laundry, etc etc. I am not complaining at all,but I so agree with what Shamma says about the woman having to do more and is looked upon to keep her household in order.
It is so funny, when DH and I went for pre marital counseling the pastor's wife said to DH, if you came into this house and it was a mess, who would you blame, me right and dH said yes.

No my DH helps me with everything. I like the house cleaned a certain way but he helps vacuum, do laundry, grocery shop etc. He even does most of the cooking.

Let's see. I do the cleaning. When he does 'clean' I have to RE-clean so I would rather just do it. He does the grocery shopping with me unless I just stop at the store for something quick. He does laundry but he doesn't cook AT ALL and doesn't really want to learn. I tell him he better hope I'm around forever otherwise he'll starve

Ky, yes I run my household, my hubby assist in some areas, he does the laundry, the ironing and the garbage. My stepson does the kitchen floor, dishes and the garbage.
I am responsible for everything else. Roger cooks on occasion and we do the grocery together. I have to make sure there that there is toothpaste, bath soap, detergent etc, if I don't check they will go hungry and naked.
I put a list on the refrigerator and tell them to add as things are running low, I think its too much to ask sometimes, mind you even things I don't use I am responsible for.
I never go to the laundry but I have to check if we are running low on Tide or Fabric Softener He will tell me when he is packing the bag to go to the laundry that there is no detergent, what can I do then I must say I have seen them adding to the list, so I guess they are learning that I can only replenish when I know something is done or almost done.

John is great like that, when I went to visit, that man was so helpful and was just all around wonderful. He is indeed a gem to Jen.
Ky and if people come and visit you know they will not say, this man keeps a dirty house, they will say, this woman sure keep one dirty house, how fair is that

Def ME! DH will do thing when I ask him to do it: dishes, laundry, driving me to Costco etc., but it's me who decides what and when needs to be done! He never volunteers, only obeys! I once mentioned something about showing initiative, but was immediately told not to expect it! Things only get done when I tell him to do them! Well, I guess it’s not all that bad, right!
One thing he decides on his own is when to take out the garbage, but that one is kinda obvious!

I take care of all the finances and planning of the meals.
He takes care of the outside chores...and the garbage!!
We both clean and go food shopping and laundry but when push comes to shove and I have to decide...YES...I run the household.

This is my response too. He'll pretty much do anything I ask him to without complaining.

I am absolutely responsible for the household. Recently it's been driving me crazy! Sometimes I feel like i am raising a child not in a marriage. I wonder though - do you think it's me? Maybe I'm too overprotective or controlling. I think it just matters more to me than it does to him.

I hardly think that is the case (that you are controlling)
Can I ask you a question- how was DH raised? Did he come from a household where mom did everything and Dad just sat around? That has a lot to do with things. This was my Dh to some extent, but before we got married, I told him I was not going to be his maid, and he had to pitch in. Though I do alot, I am happy to say he does help out.

I would have to say that we share most of the work 50/50, but I'm definately directing the show!

Re: Inspired by Shamma- do YOU run your household?
DH was raised by his mother - an only child too! So I guess it's a double whammy
We've talked abou this. He does try but it is short lived or half a*sed
I'll set the alarm in the morning for him to get up and it will go off but he won't get up. It p*sses me off because then I sit awake to make sure he gets up. I shouldn't care right?

Hmm I make the big decisons, but he does the finances, we send out laundry and have a cleaning lady, so cut that out
He does the grocery shopping though, he says he its therapeutic, go figure
