Invitations - Please Help!!

Hi fellow Newlyweds. I just posted this but something went awry. Anyway, I am helping my sister with her invitations and I need a refresher course on addressing the envelopes.

I think all I remember is for the outside envelope. For example:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
123 Main Street
Anytown, USA 12345

But what about if it you are inviting children. Do you just put 'and family' or do you list each childs individual names?

And lastly, the inner envelope. I completely forget how we do this.

Ok, one more question. What about in words like South and Northwest in the address. Are they spelled out or abbreviated?

And also street names like 5th street. Is that spelled out Fifth Street or 5th Street?

Everything should be written out in full - with the exception of the salutations.

Claud, it just doesn't look right to me. What if there is a Twelfth Street and a 12th Street in the same town?

Also what about Eighteenth Street.

Just doesn't look right??
