I willingly changed my last name, but why does that mean I lose my first name too? I don't mind Mr & Mrs R... or Lisa & Al R...

But I HATE the Mr. & Mrs Alfred R...

Is it just me?

I don't have a problem with it. I just wish people would pronounce it right!! LOL But I should be used to it, since nobody ever pronounced my maiden name right either.

I'm still known by maiden name at work -- actually both names are on my name plate, but other then payroll, nobody knows my married name here at work.

I like the hyphenated version of our name also, I'm going to talk to Rich about it. At one point we actually joked about combining both our names into one & changing everybody's but it's not really practical.

It's a little weird seeing Mr & Mrs Don X. I don't mind that so much, I don't know why though. Most of my friends use Chris & Don X on mail but older relatives use only his name. I guess that goes with what LisaT was saying.

But I was SHOCKED when Don saw one of our Christmas cards addressed to Mr & Mrs hisname and said 'It must be hard to losing your identity like that'

Seeing this now and esp. with Christmas cards we received, the older folks definitely wrote Mr and Mrs. Hisname and my younger friends wrote Gary & Stacey...

I can not agree more! It's so frustrating that now everything gets address to Mr. and Mrs. Marc XXXX. I made the DJ introduce us with his and my first name with his last name. I know we are married but hello....I didn't take his first name too!

It bothers me sooo much especially on informal cards sent to us and stuff. Wedding invitations not that much since I know they are trying to be formal.

All my X-mas cards sent to me were address Mr.and Mrs. Vincenzo AXXXXXX and I hated looking at the mail everyday. I guess I am going to have to get use to it.

I had our DJ introduce us as Mr. & Mrs. AXXXXXXX and that I don't mind much. I like his last name.

Michele31: I am in the same boat!! I hyphenated also & it is not being respected EVEN BY MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY! I am I supposed to understand that it is a inconveniance to hyphenate my name when you adrress something to me! At work I am strictly Val R******.

Val R****** - S********. Yes it is long, but show respect for my name. I like it my maiden name, had it for 27 years, it shows my heritage also! I am 100% sicilian & hubby is 50% italion & 50% polish (with the polish last name). It all upsets me more then makes me mad. I am planning on putting return address labels with my proper name on thank yous so hopefully many pay attention to it.
