I hear ya. It's very annoying. We've looked at so many and literally liked one. The loans are confusing to me... the whole process is confusing. Sometimes I think we should just bank our savings for a while and rent...

Thats what we are doing. The more we save, the more we can put down because I dont want a 3000 a month mortgage!

Ugh!

DH is going to look at one this weekend that I looked at last weekend. If he likes it as much as I do - we're making an Offer next week.

I am obsessed with house hunting. I think it took the place of wedding planning!

it will be worth it! i just closed 2 weeks ago and we are soo soo soo happy!

it is the biggestand most important financial decision you will ever make, so therefore very stessful. DH and I looked for over a year, but i am glad we were picky. Take your time, the right house will find you!

GOOD LUCK!

Yup.

Its lots more financial stress than the wedding and the repercussions are more long lasting. Plus, its hard figuring out what you each can and can't compromise on.

Part of me hopes our condo doesn't sell until the spring, so I can keep porcrastinating...

Ugh, it's such an annoying process, but I am so motivated to get out of this crappppppy apartment.

Though I get frustrated EVERYDAY!

Donegal I totally agree with you!! You hit the nail on the head!
We closed about a little over 3 months ago. It's definately worth all the headache! We looked at 40-60 homes, not counting the ones we looked at online. It's a frustrating process....but pays off in the end.
Good luck Househunters!

we were having fun in the beginning, but now we're like 'eh' about the whole thing. the reason we feel that way though is because we can't buy anything until we sell our condo. we've seen 2 houses that we LOVE, but there's nothing we can do about it, and that's super frustrating. but i'm sure the process of actually buying a house will be even more so.

i feel like this will be the case with my co-op; we're not ready to sell or buy yet but part of me gets dreamy wishing for a backyard and a DRIVEWAY... but i can't sell it now anyway b/c i bought two years ago and i won't get what i paid. If we stick to our '3 year plan' and i keep getting good bonuses though, the plan is to buy a house and still keep the co-op and rent it out.

we just started so it's still fun but i already see all the aggrivation that comes along with it
everything is very confusing & everything costs thousands (taxes, closing costs, laywers, re-doing an old house 'cause we can't afford a nice new one)

It was so much fun the first few month, I would say we have spent every weekend (minus the wedding day and honeymoon) over the past 7 months looking.. Its NOT so much fun at this point, but we are getting there.

I think once you get a pre approval it becomes real, now we have a few we like but, closing costs, lawyers and the 'making an offer' is all too scary!! But at the same time, I really really want to be out of my basement apartment with no windows!!

Re: Is anyone else going crazy with house hunting?

We have been looking for 2 years. So far one house in St James had serious potential...made an offer....engineer report came back ugh...The house needed to be lifted up off the ground and all the floor boards need to be replaced. So yeah...that house is STILL for sale a year later.

I dont want to buy something that I cant sell if I had to.

And to the people selling their house with the so called water view....OKAY....two man made ponds that look like green gook is NOT what I consider water view!!!

To the guy selling his two bedroom condo. Putting french doors in the living room and adding plywood to build a loft is NOT two bedrooms. WHERE is the living room?

To the lady selling her co op....ummm okay...6 flights of stairs to get to the door with no elevator and you want 259K I DONT THINK SO.

To the couple selling there home with the full basement.....5 foot 5inch ceilings is not going to work with almost ALLLL of my tall family.

Its such a waste of time for us and the realtor seeing these houses weekend after weekend when they are falsely advertised.

So yeah...as you can see its been crazy and its come to the point where we laugh about it. But we are actually glad we havent bought yet...I think we want to save up more money and wait for the market to drop more.
