Is anyone on? I need UTI help..possible TMI warning!

I *think* I have a UTI but I can't be sure, it's been years since I've had one so I don't remember but there is definitely something not right going on! Do I have to go to the dr for this? I can't take off work again, is this something I can normally call up the dr. for and have her prescribe medicine? What does one do if they can't get to the dr. but need medication? TIA.

I would call a doctor in the morning, but i'm not sure if they can prescribe anything without seeing you. I would also call a pharmacy and see if they can recommend anything. A few years ago i thought i had a UTI and dh went to CVS and got me something, but i don't remember what it was. Sorry i'm not too much help!

You can go buy Cysex over the counter and also Uriastat.(sp ch?)
It will help your pain and drink lots of fluid. If you caught it in time you might be able to flush it out - if not you might have to call your Dr. so that he can call something in. Unless he is one of those , you have to come in and pee in a cup.

you need to to the dr. and get antibiotics. If you think you have one, don't mess around - go immediately. The antibiotics ususally work fast. The over the counter stuff doesn't heal you, only masks the pain temporarily.
UTI's are the worst - I'm sorry!

GO TO THE DOCTOR....in the meantime pickup Uristat...it's great for temporary relief, and if caught super early it can kick it out...be forewarned that it will make u pee neon orange untill it's flushed ur system lol...so sorry u have this goin' on! totally sux!

Drink cranberry juice, too! I love it and drink it often so I guess maybe that's why I don't get them? Good luck!

thanks for the responses girls but it wasn't a UTI, it was a nasty kidney stone. I don't know how I confused the two

I agree with the other girls - buy Uristat.

They also sell UTI tests strips that you pee on. They have them at CVS> they are called 'AZO Urniary Test Strips' or something like that. You can call your doctor with the result and he might prescribe over the phone. Mine does.

DO THE TEST BEFORE you take the Uristat, as it will throw off your result.

hi jess!!! im sorry this is the nurse in me.. but GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!

uristat is great but its like taking a tylenol its just a pain reliever an does not an will NOT cure a UTI! If a UTI goes untreated it can possible travel the urinary tract and go to the bladder an kidneys. you really dont want to let it go it can be very painful.

try and find a doc who is open on the weekends or may possibly have evening hours. if you need a doc. i have a great one whos open 7 days a week hes in lindenhurst but atleast you could get treated!

if you want the info let me know.. Drink lots of fluids and try an stay away from cranberry juice i know they say to drink it but it can actually cause kidney stones if you drink too much!
