Is it crazy to go away the weekend before your wedding?
So, we have the opportunity to go to Fla to see friends we haven't seen since Jan. and I'm not sure when we'll see them again. We'll also do this fun event in Disney World with them. It's like a once in a lifetime type thing. We both REALLY want to go but it's the weekend before our wedding. We'd be gone Fri night through Mon Morning.
I will have the whole week before the wedding to get stuff done. The people i've talked to think I'm crazy but we really want to go!!
So just how busy IS the weekend before the wedding? Can I get everything done that week?

nope, if its on the weekend and you are giving yourself a few days between when you get back and your wedding then definitely go.

I didn't really have anything to DO the weekend before my wedding because I was very organized. BUT, I could never have gone away. I would not have enjoyed one single second. . . My mind was just somewhere else.
I was panicking about getting sick, about falling and getting a black eye, about breaking my leg - and that was just during my normal routine.

I say go for it. Just make sure that you have as much done as possible prior to your trip, so you will only have to deal with last mnute things when you get back.

I think it can be done. I personally wouldn't do it because there are just so many things to do and you have enough going on but if you feel you are able to get everything done in a few days right before the wedding then do it.

I think it should be fine! DH went away for 6 days (weekend before the wedding) and both of us survived. We planned well and got everything done in advance! I did have a few errands to run myself but that's bc I live in NJ and had to do a few things on LI like get my hair colored, pick up my pocketbook, go for a dress fitting, etc. But if you can get all of that done a head of time and just leave yourself table cards...you'll be golden. I really did not have many errands to run those few days before and it was great!!!

I would have totally done it (except that we had OOT guests here from Ecuador).
I really had pretty much NOTHING left to do right before the wedding and it would have been great to get away

The weekend before our wedding was when we had all of our furniture delivered to the house so we wouldn't have been able to.

the week before the wedding is hectic as it is, no matter if you go or stay somethings will be left for the last minute! i say go, have a good time and come back rested and ready for the time of your life!!

it all depends how on top of things you are.. I personally would have been stressed out to the max to have done something like that.

i wasn't on top of the last minute details enough to go away the weekend before our wedding. i was also a big ball of stress trying to make sure everything is perfect.
so i'd say it depends on you .... if you think you can have everything done before that weekend ... and if you're a calm person ...

Thanks for the help I know I won't be too worried and stressed but fh def. will be, that's just his nature.
What all last minute things are there? WE aren't really doing any DIY, at least that's a bit less to get done last minute. I really have no idea how top on things I'll be but of course we need to book soon and can't wait 2 months LOL Maybe this'll help me stay organized

I wouldn't be able to do it ... there was just too much to do, and too little time to do it!
The weekend before - we got the furniture delivered, started bringing the boxes from our shower in the apt - unloaded the boxes, put things away, etc etc
Final dress fitting, coordinated with vendors - went over all details/songs with the band, flowers were confirmed, dropped off all the favors at the Watermill, as well as menus, placecard holders, pictures for the fireplace, unity candle, etc etc.
It all depends on what your situation is - and if all of the last minute planning can be done before your weekend vacation.

My fiance and I went away for a 4 day weekend the weekend before our wedding and it was GREAT - I was so relaxed, tan...(we also went to FLA) - I say DO IT! I remember saying to him, EVERYONE should do it this way.

i had to goto vegas for work 2 weeks before & it was fun but when i got back i was a little crazy. if you have everything done then i'd go. i still had to make a card box, programs, book a make up person - i was up till 2 in the morning the night of my wedding printing out programs & i had to be up at 6 so don't be like me- only go if you have all that stuff done

I wouldnt be able to do it only because I would be way too nervous to come back home and find myself stressed out from the million things left to do and confirm and follow-up on the week of my wedding.
The week before my wedding i was pretty busy, i had OOT guests fly in so i had to meet all of them, i had to go to last minute appointments, just random things like that. But everyone is different...if you think you would be able to plan it out then i say go for it!
