is it me or is this rude???

OK so my dept is currently undergoing some crazy changes and they are splitting it in 2 and putting a bunch of managers in place (super top heavy... but whatev).

anyway... with all the changes comes all these open positions. There's this one position that TECHNICALLY I am one of only 4 people (in my immediate dept) who are qualified for. However, 2 people in my department lied on the application to be considered for an interview. (the one poor guy who didn't lie was denied)... I didn't have to lie.. because I was qualified.

Soooo.... one girl, who we will call D.... asked me if I was applying. She approached me and asked. I said yes. Then I asked her the same back. It was a light and nice convo. Nothing bad. She said no because she is more than happy where she is.

FF to today. HR calls me to sched a phone interview for the job. HR immediately calls right back to speak with her and sched a phone interview with her as well. SHE LIED TO ME AND APPLIED AS WELL. I'm not mad that she lied on the application (though that's ridic and she could be fired for that) but that she went out of her way to ask me of my plans, then lied to me about hers!! And it's DEF NOT a matter of 'she changed her mind'. She consistantly reitterated that she was happy here and NOT applying... even up to today she was saying this to me!!

I could understand if I asked her and she didn't want to tell me. BUT she asked me and then lied about her news. I found that to be a bit rude and sneaky. What do y ou think?

I mean ... what's the point in even lying? Just ... I mean ... you'd have found out anyway, no?

i dont know why she lied. but she went out of her way to bring up the topic with me and ask me about it. I jsut don't get it.

all in all... she lied. she lied about the length of time she's been here and her experience. As did the other girl. And that's DEF something they can find out about. But who knows what will come of it. Bottom line is.. neither of them are qualified. And even though I am qualified.... it's REALLY stiff competition... so I'm not even expecting to get the job!! I'd be LIVID if either of them did!! But I HIGHLY doubt they will.

why lie when its so easy to get caught... what if she gets the job... then she looks like a fool...

i'm sure hr will be talking to their managers about them and their qualifications, etc. if they're seriously going to consider them so they will find out they're lying eventually!

as for you... just talk about your qualifications and experience on your phone interview so that when these other ppl have nothing to talk about, they won't even come close to being able to compare you to them!

That's not just rude, its weird and silly.

Coworkers are honestly the strangest.

And yeah, if she got the job, then what!?

That's very rude...Why lie? She had to know you were going to find out. Derrrrrr!!!

Definitely rude and weird. If she didn't want people knowing she was applying why would she ask you if you were?? People really drive me nuts.
