I tried posting this last night....not sure what happened, but I will try again. So....DH and I are both teachers who met on a Winter Break trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. YAY! We were married this past December--and it was a big, beautiful family wedding---everything I could have ever imagined. Recently, thought--we''ve been talking about celebrating our one year anniversary (which is very far away ) by renewing our vows on the beach in Mexico. The celebration would really be just for the two of us---just as a sentimental token, knowing that we were married where we met. Nothing that would include invites, gifts, yadda yadda. Anyway, our question is---Is this tacky and kinda selfish after a big wedding? Or, do you think that it is personal enough that no one would be offended? Thanks for your help, ladies!!!

Re: Is this tacky?
Go for it! Definitely not tacky...you're really not asking for anything from anyone else anyway, so why not?

Are you inviting other people? It didn't seem like you were. I think it is cute to have a little ceremony since that is where you first met.

Since you're not inviting anybody and it will be just you two then it's perfectly fine. It would be different if you were inviting ppl and they had to pay to travel when you just had a wedding last year. But your situation is fine.

If no one is even there, I don't see how it can be construed as tacky.

The only way that would be tacky is if you wore Uggs on the beach

How funny is that comment about the Uggs! When we got married in December--granted, there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground---but I wore white ugg-type boots under my Marisa 644 silk satin gown!
Ha...funny. I should post some pics of that...
Thanks for your input, ladies! And no, we wouldn't be inviting any guests...just him and I...and the beach!

Re: Is this tacky?
We did this! My husband and I love Aruba (we recently purchased a home there!) and originally wanted to elope, however, after dating almost 10 years, we didn't want to deprive our family from seeing us marry. On August 19, 2007, we had a magnificent NY wedding, with 160 guests.
For our 1st anniversary, the two of us traveled to Aruba to celebrate and on August 19, 2008, our wedding anniversary, we had an intimate Vow Renewal Ceremony followed by beach photos and trash the dress pictures. We had a private ceremony on Arashi Beach, and then traveled to locations along Aruba’s North Side beaches for photographs. Lastly, we went to another stretch of beach to trash the dress. We ended the evening with dinner at our favorite steakhouse (after changing, of course!).
It was so romantic- We are going to do it again for our 10th anniversary!
