I went to a wedding last year on July 3, 2002 and I got the Thank You note today WITHOUT a picture? I was a bit annoyed. Don't you think that is rude? It took them an entire year to send out a note and they don't even send a picture. My feeling is that the picture represents the couple and is a remembrance of the day and now I have nothing to reflect back on.
How does everyone else feel about this?

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I think it should def. have a picture on it. Whether on the card itself or as an insert. TY's have always shown a memory of the day also. To be honest, I don't think I would keep a TY w/o a pic of the wedding.

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I've actually never received a thank you with a picture (and i went to 14 weddings in the last 2 years!), and I didn't send one with mine. I never know what to do with wallet pictures anyway (i.e. when friends send them of their babies...) - they wind up in a drawer or something.
Anyway, I never considered it rude.

It's out of the ordinary, but I don't think it's rude. Maybe they were cutting costs?

I think it's more rude that it took a year to receive it. Obviously they were not waiting on pictures from the photographer.

I don't think it is rude not to send a picture. I have been to plenty that didn't send a picture (although it always disappoints me because I keep them in a special friends album!). I think some people it is not part of their family tradition, they are cutting costs or just think people don't want them. I think it is rude to send your thank-you's a year later (esp. because you know they weren't waiting on a photo studio!)

Well, a late thank you is better than no thank you at all I guess. Besides, we don't know if they had problems with their photographer or other life situations that may have added to the lateness of the thank you.

I like it when there are photos included but I dont think its rude to exclude them.
As long as the note inside was sincere and appropriate, i dont think they did anything wrong.

I do not think it is rude- not all people send pictures anymore- that is because a lot of people throw the pictures out so sometimes it is a waste. I did send out pictures but I did feel a little silly sending them to my mom's friends and other friends of the family- what do you think they are gonna do with the picture?

I don't think it is rude. Maybe a little different. Most people I know have sent pics, but lik someone said, they could be cutting costs. We all no how $$$ it is for a wedding these days

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I would say that the idea that it took them a year to write up the thank you's....and they didn't have to wait for a picture is rude. I mean, if ya weren't gonna send a pic, why wait a year lazy bones?

I don't think it's rude not to have a pic, but if you want ppl to keep them, they more likely will with a pic
But I do think it was rude to wait a year to send a card w/no pic unless there were other circumstances

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I think taking a year to send a thank you is rude, but not enclosing a picture is fine.

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I only sent photos to immediate family and close friends. Sorry, but I know for a fact that 90% of people (unless again, close family or friend) throw those photos out or in a draw forever. Why should I spend money on those photos so they can be thrown away? I got my TY cards out on time and wrote a personal note in each of them. I don't think it was rude at all. I have never once seen it written in an etiquette book that a photo must accompany a TY card.

I could see why people may not want to send pictures to everyone. I am guilty of throwing those pictures away too. I wouldn't think of it as rude.

I don't think its rude not to get a picture. Its not required in the thank you card, however I *do* think it was rude for you to have to wait a year for it!
I sent one with all of mine, and I love getting them though......

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
I sent mine without a picture...Our invites were letterpress (letterpress=$$$$) and we got the coordinating stationary to match it. We didn't use a traditional wedding photographer so we didn't get ty cards included. And not to cause controversy..put I thought etiquette dictates that the couple has up to a year to send out the inivtes..just as a guest has up to a year to send a gift?

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?
A lot of people do not enclose pictures with their thank you cards. Most of the weddings I have been to did not, including our own.
