Is this the new trend?!?!?

Original post by MayDay16

I went to a wedding last year on July 3, 2002 and I got the Thank You note today WITHOUT a picture? I was a bit annoyed. Don't you think that is rude? It took them an entire year to send out a note and they don't even send a picture. My feeling is that the picture represents the couple and is a remembrance of the day and now I have nothing to reflect back on.

How does everyone else feel about this?

Thank You cards with Pictures are really a Tri-State area thing to do. Also, if you are a member of the 'wealthy upper class' you don't send a picture. I don't know why it is, but all of the weddings that I have been to where the bride & groom are 'well to do' send lengthy hand written thank yous.

I agree - I don't think it's rude. I think the time it took to get there is MAJORLY RUDE though!

Oh, my cousin did that when she got married back in oct 2001. I was so upset because I did not even have my own camera.

What I did find out was that SHE did her Thank You's on time for her side of the family (w/some pictures).

But it was HIS responsibility to send out Thank You's for his side (w/no pictures). That is rude.

You have one year to send a wedding gift to a couple BUT only 3 months to send a thank you card to your guests.

And get this--- 2 people told my stepmom that they really wished I had sent a more 'traditional' photo instead of the upclose one that I sent. So she said, 'You should be grateful you even got a photo' but talk about rude who are they to say anything about the photo I chose anyway.

I have received thank you's without a picture. I was disappointed, because I like to have a picture, but I didn't think it was rude.

That's ridiculous Michele!! I can't believe someone would have the nerve to say something like that!
Oh well...better late than never to receive a ty card, right? My sister never sent any at all! My family is still stewing about that one!

I dont think its rude, but I would be a bit disappointed that there was no pic enclosed with the card

LeeLee- what is your sister's excuse? She should be ashamed.
I have a 'friend' that I don't often see but when she had her 2 babies I sent a gift. I never even got a phone call to thank me. I will never send her anything again.
My SIL doesn't ever send TY cards. It drives me nuts. I sent a gift to her son for his b-day and we don't even get a thank you phone call! I gave her a wedding gift (they eloped) and that's right- nothing!!! It is just plain rude.

It's obnoxious!! My sister really has no excuse! She's just VERY lazy! They've been married for 3 years so I'm never expecting one! Mind you...this is my sister who gave me my Maid of Honor gift to me as a Christmas/Birthday present!

I think there are a lot bigger things in life to be concerned with than something like this. People are who they are .. do what they do .. and that's that.

In addition, I think too many people are quick to judge and condem without considering personal situations that could have played a contributing factor in these such instances.

I agree with the pictures being a tri-state thing. I grew up in the midwest and hadn't really seen the picture thing until I moved east. I skipped the picture and used note cards that matched our invites with our names on the front, so I can use them as formal sympathy cards, thank you cards for other occasions and such.

I sent pictures to the older generation, guests who couldn't come to the wedding and a couple of friends that I knew would enjoy the picture. Others just got a nice thank you without picture. It wasn't a cost issue - I just saw no reason to send a picture simply for them to throw it out.

I don't think its rude at all. I rarely keep the thank you pictures I've gotten, unless its someone close to me (in which case I often have tons of pics from their wedding anyway).

Ok, now I'm freaked out. I got married 3 months ago and the thank yous have not gone out yet. We're deciding how we want to do it and we're also in the process of closing and moving into our new house.

I wanted to wait until we got in to our new house so I could do a thank you/new address combo. Am I being rude??? It's only been 3 months!

Re: Is this the new trend?!?!?

I have every wedding wallet picture I have ever received on my fridge (except for one...who I can't stand)

my mom has them also...but hers are not really displayed...they are stacked up on a shelf in the living room

so I like to get the pictures...the only TY I haven't received with a pic..was from a very wealthy family...maybe that has something to do with it...

I wouldn't consider it rude not to send a picture, but I'd miss it.

I also save all of the ty pictures I get, and I have them in a scrapbook of sorts, along with the couple's invitation and program and newspaper announcement, if they have them.
What can I say??? I'm a sentimental geek.
