I really don't think Shamma's intention here was to start a running debate about the reasons behind this war. And I really don't think she should be lambasted for a post that is A JOKE. I received this same JOKE in an e-mail.

We all have opinions, we are all entitled to them, and honestly 07....I know you are going through a lot with your husband in the service, but you have to stop attacking brides here just because they have an opinion, question, or a JOKE about the war. If it bugs you, don't read the posts. We are all very very appreciative of what your husband will do, and what you will put up with as a result of it, no one here is personally attacking you, or is looking to insult you. Let's face it, this war appears to be happening and as long as it is, it will come up here whether you like it or not, in terms you may like or not.

I really just laughed this off.

I try not to get myself worked up over things I cannot contol.

I know Shamma did not mean any harm in posting this. She did not want to spark a debate but get a ha ha here and there.

I only got defensive when it seemed as if the post was going where it was not meant to go. Life is serious enough for all of us. The last thing I want is a war and if anything can make me feel better, I will take it. If I don't laugh I might cry. It may not be as easy for everyone to do but when I have no control over a situation I am not going to let it control me. I do not get defensive if anyone disagrees with me. I get defensive when things are taken the wrong way.

07 You are directly affected by this and I will never understand how you feel. This was not posted as a debate it was posted to lighten things. But as we are all entitled to our feelings I will not knock anyone for theirs.

I have to agree with Mysty, Jenn, and Nrvbrd. The post was meant to be joke, not a debate. Can we try to not take everything so seriously? Everthing doesn't have to be a big debate -- it just causes unnecessary drama.

Powell has very little 'real' evidence about anything. Many of that stuff can be made-up. This is a war that we cannot win. We might be able to blow more stuff up than them, but you will see more attacks on our soil if we go through with this. This is about oil control and they use the 'we are all in danger' to make the US people feel that everyday we are at risk. But guess what, we were last year and the year before that. Pushing Saddam underground just makes it harder for us to watch him and thus, we have NO idea what he is up to. At least now, the whole world is watching him. Iraq has not shot one gun at the US. We should not fire first. Would you send your child to fight for this war? I wouldn't.

Today and tomorrow there is a 2 part series on Oprah titled 'Should we attack Iraq'.

For those of you who cannot watch at 4pm, it's usually replayed on WLNY, channel 55 in Queens (not sure about the channel in LI).

Should be interesting.
