I do not reuse towels meaning after i shower they go right into the wash. I was told this weekend that i am crazy and should be reusing my towels. I know there is nothing wrong with it, i just cant. DH hangs his towel on the towel rack after his showers to reuse it but i swipe them and put them in the laundry and hang a clean one in its place. shhhhhhhh he doesnt know. Is there something wrong with me???

When you dry off, your body is usually clean no? We reuse the towels, since we go to the laundromat, I try to cut down on going there as much as we already do!
God what I wouldn't give for my own washer and dryer!

I was gonna say, wow you girls must not have to pay for your laundry....at $1.50 per wash cycle and $1.50 per dry cycle, you better believe we reuse those towels...

all of your responses are killing me!
i have two towels: one for my hair and one for my body. DH and I wash our towels every week, and at most go for 10 days before washing them. just fine here, with no weird rashes.

Yes you are showering and getting clean BUT you are never 100% germ and 'bad' bacteria free. I could explain my reasoning in further detail but I'd rather not

when i lived at home with my parents it was a new towel every time. Since I moved out, and haven't had a washer and dryer in six years, i now re-use them for a few days. It's like when you go to a hotel and they leave the note that says to help them save water, hang up your towel so we know you are going to re-use it. Leave it on the floor and we'll replace them.

I reuse, then wash when it's the normal laundry time.
But for those who are concerned about germs...you're wiping off in your own germs. Isn't someone just germ neutral by that point, after you've already showered?
I'm not talking a wet towel that doesn't dry out and instead gets mildewed or moldy. That's an entirely different organism and gross.

I agree you are never germ free that I know is a fact. But there isnt anything getting rubbed off that isnt or wasnt already on me, so it bothers me none.

DH & I both have seperate towels for both our hair and our bodies. We reuse our towels 2-3 times before putting them in the hamper. Part of this is trying be more green and part of it is the cost of doing laundry at the laundromat.

this is such a detailed thread - i love it. I have a very strict drying off routine too. . . I know I am strange when it comes to this but even if I WANTED to reuse my towel my bathroom stays SO humid it would always be really gross and damp!
AND as for sharing with DH, he disgusts me - I can barely bring myself to share my bed with him. . . j/k. .. . .kinda. . ..

UGGGGG!! DH uses a new towel every time & it drives me CRAZYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! the towels build up and build up in the laundry and guess who gets to wash them?!

Ok we have separate towels re-use them for about 5-7 days then laundry. I have been doing this my whole life and still living and verrry healthy!!!!
As for wash cloths - new one everyday!
I really need to know why so many people do not re-use! Its crazy! I come in contact with so many germs on a daily basis - guy coughing next to me on the bus, hand rails in the city, escalators, elevator buttons, bathrooms, etc - I know its gross but it happens and I am not that much of a germ-a-phobe to worry about these things all the time! I am pretty healthy and only get sick like maybe once a year and think this is pretty good. So no I do not worry about re-using towels because I do worry about other germ related incidents that happen on the regular! LOL!!!!

I agree. we use towels for 5-7 days and pretty much change and wash them when we change and wash our sheets. I couldn't imagine using a new towel every time I shower; makes no sense to me. I use one for my hair and one for my body and DH just uses one.

We re-use them for several days then it goes in the laundry. We dont have enough room in the apartment to have that many extra towels.

I re-use the towel. Too much laundry if I don't. DH and I both take showers twice a day sometimes. I would never stop doing laundry if I only used it once. I am clean when I come out of the shower, so the towel is clean.

I guess I am lucky bc we have a washer/dryer and a BUTTLOAD of towels. I only wash towels twice a week!
ETA: I also have OCD and the only towels that I have hanging up in my bathroom are fancy ones that no one uses - I couldn't imagine having dirty towels hanging up

I reuse and so does dh but we each have our own towel to dry off with for at 2-3 uses. If it starts to get moldy smelling it goes in the wash automatically but typically that does not happen unless you fold it up. I hang them fully stretched out to air dry (our bathroom window is open).

DH will not use a towel twice, ever so I am constantly doing laundry.
I use 2 towels (one for face & hair, one for body) and I reuse the hair one, if its dry in time.
I also SKEEVE washcloths. I find them offensive.

same here. i work in a nursing home so i am constantly washing my hands, but other than that i think i'm pretty okay with germs.
there are only four towels between me and dh, so we always reuse, i actually never knew that people use a new one everyday

I did this when I lived at home. But after college I began using them 3-6 times. I figure I am clean while I use it so its okay. I also live in an apartment and dont have laundry of my own. When I have laundry machine of my own, I will prolly wash them after 2-3 uses.
