Re: Jealousy.
I feel ya, I think we all have our moments where we feel jealous. I just try and remind myself that just as I'm jealous of someone there is probably somone jealous of me. And if all else fails hit something!

Re: Jealousy.
Focus on the positives in your life!
I'm a very pessimistic person to begin with. But when I'm feeling super jealous I try to remind myself (or ask someone else to do it for me ) about some good stuff I have going on.
So, you might be feeling jealous about something in particular. Talk to someone removed from the situation and vent it out - and then talk about some positives within that area.
For instance - I hate my job, A LOT. But when I start feeling jealous about other people's jobs and what they are doing with their lives, DH reminds me what is good about my current situation - like, I have a job to begin with, I have amazing benefits, I make a great salary, etc.
Make sense??
FM me if you need to vent

Re: Jealousy.
I dont have an advice on how to get over it, other than this little thing that I do for when I feel jealous or very depressed: I count all the nice things in MY life. count even the silliest things like 'I love my new knives, I love my scented candles'. anything and everything goes!
I feel jealous these days a lot. so I totally relate I feel everyone gets ahead in life way faster than me and by the time its my turn its not a big deal anymore. OR the money thing, it seems that I can never afford anything while others have so much....
and here we go with the counting.......

Re: Jealousy.
Focus on the positive things in your life. It may also be helpful to try to identify why you are feeling this way in the first place. Maybe deep down there are things you would like to change in your own life.

Re: Jealousy.
All I have to say is that it goes away with age!!!!! As I have gotten older I care less about all the 'sh!t' in life and have become truly happy with me, whether its good or bad its me and the jealously fades.
I know that doesnt help now. I say for now go hit a heavy bag!!!!! it does wonders for when I get angry!

Yup - definitely agree with this. I know it probably doesn't help but it does go away as you get older.
Hang in there. Also, remember that its ok to feel the way you feel and sometimes there's nothing wrong with feeling jealous.
Miss you around here........

so im guessing that whatever it is thats making you jealous isnt an easy fix huh?
You're human - it's normal to be jealous. You just gotta focus on what you have, what you are and pride yourself on that! And sometimes it doesnt hurt to think that there are others who are jealous of you!!
Trust me, I get jealous of my friends who are still living care free lives and going on vacation in December without me...but this is the way my life panned out & i wouldnt trade my hubby for anything!
But like Christine said, it definitely helps to vent about it. If not girls like us here, can Brad help? Or you can write about it...i know, journals sound so juvenile..but they could definitely help!!
If ya need to chat, FM me or find me on FB

Re: Jealousy.
I agree with the rest of the girls. Every now & again the lil green guy pops up. It happens your human. But remember how lucky you are & you never really know whats happening in someone elses backyard. Sometimes what you think isnt what is true. So be thankful what you have. It may not be what that person has or is doing but you may have something they wish they had.

Re: Jealousy.
Whenever I get that jealousy feeling, I just say to myself that things aren't always as they seem. Like say I'm jealous of a girl's hair (silly, but it's all I could think of), I think maybe it takes her 3 hrs to get it the way it looks~would I really want that? It's normal to get that way every now and then, but just focus on the blessed things in your life~and I also think it's great to actually vocalize what's bugging you-either to DH or a good friend just because sometimes things seem really big in our heads, but once it's out~they seem a little less intimidating.

Re: Jealousy.
I wish I could share this with you all because it isnt really a little one...unfortunately due to creepers i cant. I wish this was something small like 'oh i want that car...' or 'She has a nicer figure than me!' I definitely fall into those mindsets too but this one is just way bigger and unfortunately DH doesnt relaly understand

Re: Jealousy.
aww Lauren....
Can I tell you a story? You all know that I was old when I met DH (almost 38) and that I was engaged once before. In my mid-20s when I was with my ex fiance right before I called off the engagement, I remember thinking that all of my friends were getting married and I wouldn't be. I realized that was no reason to get married and called it off. Then I dated a person who I was with on and off for the next 10+ years. I remember looking at my friends lives and while I was truly happy for them thinking that 'should be me' and how is it that they have wonderful husbands and homes and children. I thought I had 'nothing' to show for my life except my apt, my car and my rabbit.
Out of my 3 best friends, 2 of them went through horrible divorces (way worse than ending an engagement).
It was only within the last year that when we had girls weekend that I came clean to them and told them how I was feeling all those years ago. And you know what - they said they felt the same way about me! They would be up all night with sick crying babies and fighting with their DHs about bills, in laws, divorces, etc., and it appeared to them that I 'had it all' because I had freedom.
I guess what I'm trying to let you know is that the grass is truly always greener. I know it's hard to accept that but it's true.
I'm sure that right now every girl on this board can come up with a reason why they're jealous of you.....

I totally agree with everything above!!
Everyone gets jealous sometimes but I have come to realize that no one has a perfect life and while someone may be blessed in one way, they aren't so fortunate in others. Sometimes I feel like my SIL is jealous that I am married and she is not. She will make comments about how I got married 'so young' and she is 40 and will die alone, etc etc...I feel really bad about it but the ironic thing is she does not realize I am secretly really jealous of her. She is 40 years old and is lucky enough to have two amazing, healthy, happy parents and wonderful family life. I am 27 and already lost a parent and am watching another one try to be strong for my 11 yr old brother while she is secretly falling apart.
If it makes you feel any better I am COMPLETELY jealous that you are in amazing shape and I am the human blob over here!
But in all seriousness, if you want to talk you can feel free to fm me! Hope you feel better soon!
