John Adams

So I finally got around to finishing the mini series and ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS...

John Adams got a bum rep. We have no money with his face on it.

W TH.

I want more. They need to make mini series like this for EVERY founder father... this was so entertaining... Its like our history books coming to life.

I want more

are there any other nerds out there? Or does EVERYONE watch Sex in the City etc etc.

I got really excited last night at 4am when I was flipping channels, and there was a special on TV about the Newport Mansions and the whole culture surrounding them in the 1800s

Does that count as nerdy?

totally. And I adore you for it.

Another obsession of mine is the English monarchy. I <3 the Tudors but I'm afraid they sexed it up too much to the point where the history seems ridiculous and exploited.

there was a great 2 or 3 day mini series on Franklin Roosevelt...

It was SO GOOD, WARM SPRINGS it was about his 'miracle cure' in the back country of GA... Things I never knew about him.

seriously though... i REALLY want to see a mini series on Teddy Roosevelt... don't ask me why.

btw- i had NO CLUE that jefferson and john adams, two of the most prominent figures in our independence, died on the same day-- July 4th... 50 years after we declared independence. I felt like such a douche that i didnt know this.

or I did, and i forgot.... who knows

I'm gonna set my TiVo for that when it re-airs in June, it seems really interesting! Thank you for posting about it.

One of my mom's sisters had polio and died as a little girl .... so I think that would make it even more interesting to me.

I just recently (in the last 6 months) learned this. Seems freaky to me! I think it might have been a Jeopardy clue or something ... some tv trivia show had it as a question.

my mother, the nerd of all nerds, mentioned it RIGHT BEFORE the *scene* happened and even informed me that RIGHT before JA died he said: 'Jefferson survives...' (meaning the last of those responsible for our independence)

she's such a twat. If I didn't have 1/2 my dad's genes, I would be a rocket scientist

I haven't had time to watch it yet, but I'm hoping I can still use my HBO on demand to catch it!! I love history!!

and just for the record it's Sex AND the city (sorry I had to be a ball breaker on that one and yes I am a fan although I do have Sex IN the city since I'm a Queens girl and since you are too, I guess that means we're both fans of Sex IN the city (as long as its us who's having it!
