jon & kate + 8 season premiere anyone?

Did anyone watch the season premiere of jon & kate + 8 on monday? (I DVR'd it and just watched it)

It was sooo sad!!! I really feel bad for those kids... that show is not the same anymore...


what are your thoughts?

I watched a little of it and got too annoyed so I turned it off.

I just think that if u r so upset by what's happening to your family----stay home and work on it. Kate's apparently away very often. If u don't like what the show has done to your family, stop doing it.

Now I am not making excuses for what Jon did, well allegedly did, there is no excuse for it but they both made it very obvious what the problem was. Jon said it a few times and you saw his face when he said it. Kate wanted him to quit his job so he can stay home and help out, which fine he did. Seems like it wasn't something he wanted to do but for her he did it. Then he is home with her and she writes a book and leaves him home alone with the kids while she goes off alone being a celebrity. Imagine your spouse saying 'dont work, forget your career, i need you at home with me' and when you do they get their own career and are not home. Then for those who saw the last episode last season, Jon made it very clear he didn't want to do another season. Infact the way it ended showed him very annoyed by it all. But Kate said she wanted to continue with the show, so of course she got what she wanted again.

Seems like it's all about what she wants to do. There is no compromise in that relationship. Then in the first episode this season, Kate said ' i don't know what to do' well how about stop travelling alone for your book tour and stay home to work on the relationship.

And im talking JUST about their relationship, not how hard it is to take care of 8 kids and how hard it is for her. It was hard for her the first year. She has personal assistants, nannies and had jon at home now to help take care of them. I did feel bad for her when she was crying on the show though, and it was sad how they avoided eachother at the party, even when standing close to eachother and they acted as if the other wasn't even there. It was real sad, and when alexis said ' i miss you daddy, don't go away anymore'

Yes I agree with you 100%...it does look like its her way most of the time. I dont understand why they did the 5th season, they should concentrate on the family and fixing the problems before they publicize it, your right its too personal now. And now paparazzi are following them. I hope its not another reality curse. Every couple that's on a reality show gets divorced.

Its so sad because they recently renewed their vows in Hawaii...Its just makes me so sad to see this especially on how its going to effect the kids. I Wonder what will happen next!

Kate Gosselin reportedly keeps a tight grasp on the purse strings, giving her husband just $5 a day.

'She used to give him only $5 to spend, and if he was out and needed more money, she would give him hell,' David Rothermel, his former employer at Style Craft Corp, tells Us magazine.

During the time Jon Gosselin was at Style Craft Corp, Kate allegedly flared her temper with him in front of other employees -- even berating them. 'She came in raising hell because Jon's father was supposed to bring her lunch and he was late,' Rothermel recalls. 'She got up out of bed rest to come in and yell at anyone who would listen!'

She was also said to be ungrateful after a friend of the family gave them a 14-passenger van. Kate 'never thanked him,' claims a source close to Jon. Instead, 'she traded it in because she hated the color burgundy.'

During Monday's season premiere, Kate admitted she's 'been hard' on Jon. 'I would never deny that. I've always regretted it,' she added.

My heart really goes out to those kids, it's not fair to them what their parents are doing... it's not fair that their feelings are just out there displayed to the whole world.. when alexis hugged her dad and was like 'daddy i don't want you to go anymore' it broke my heart... it was disgusting that the whole nation gets the right to see all the private emotions this child was going through... it's just not right in my opinion.

I know it seems like jon has had it with the show and wants to pull the plug, but kate wants the show to keep going, and so it will... it's all about what kate wants... she's been seduced by all the $$$, all the freebies, all the free vacations, etc that they constantly get now, she pretty much sold her soul and that of her family's.. and everything they have now is all because of those poor innocent kids who don't even understand it all yet how messed up their parents are being and how greed has changed them and is destroying their family... how will they feel when they're older and watch all these episodes from when they were kids??

I feel so bad for those kids. Why put their personal issues on tv for their friends parents to see, the friends too since mady and cara are getting older, their teachers. Imagine being that age and your parents going through this and for all to see and know your business.

I read online that jon & kate command something like $25,000 for speaking engagements at churches... and in the middle of the speaking engagement, they collect what they call 'love offerings'.. basically a collection basket goes around the church, while a photo montage of the 8 kids plays in the background with music.... and they tell the story of how hard it's been for their family, the money struggles they've had, and people open their wallets.... then afterwards, people can pay $20 for a picture of the gosselins...... !!!!

I really, seriously hope this is not true, (I've read it on alot of different places) but if it is true, how can they deceive the audience by saying that they're still going through money trouble... doesn't the audience have access to tv??? don't they see the $1.3M mansion they live in and all the vacations they go on??? talk about greed!

I'm pretty sure it is well established that they are financially secure at this point. Given the size of their estate, it seems that if they put a stop to this madness, they would be just fine. The question is do they want to milk this thing for what it is worth?

Clearly, it seems that they do, or else this would be the end of the show, the book tours, the speaking engagements, etc.

So I know this is terrible......but I think I do this w/ DH. Not $5 of course but he gives me his check each week and I give him back $100. I guess we don't really think of it as an allowance. If he needs more, obviously I'll give it to him.

We do have a friend whose x-wife used to give him $10 a week. Come on....u can't even buy coffee every day for $10. His friends all made fun of him bc he didn't have $3 to pay his share for the umpire at their weekly softball game. No wonder that they're divorced.

ITA... the kids are going to be the ones to suffer in the end... they have their whole personal lives / family issues displayed for the whole world to see... and they're still so young they don't understand it all yet.

She doesn't get it because she can't see through the greed blinders lol all she sees is $$$.. she won't even consider pulling the plug to save her marriage... I'm not defending jon at all, what he did was wrong, but at least he knows the show is ruining them, and he wants out... they're both in the wrong here, because their best interest should be their kids.... I love how they both were like 'i'm here for the kids'...... meanwhile she's never home anymore, she's always on tour promoting the book... she completely sickens me!!!

i know, i was just thinking about the fact that they just renewed their vows last season, so things were obviously fine. I think them doing another season was the breaking point for Jon. He just seemed so frustrated at the end of last season and didnt hold back how he felt. I think with them doing another season and her gone all the time, he just lost it.

oh wow totally..i agree...he never wanted it to turn into a business and it did...and if anyone watched the earlier seasons, particularly the first 2 specials that lead to the series, he did not want to go through another round of fertility after the twins. He was happy with the 2. she wanted to see what it was like to carry just one more. But they had 6.

It got carried away..for both..and I think they drifted apart. hes not into it, and she is, its her career and shes thriving (she thinks so anyways, some may not agree) so she wouldnt want it to stop. They just bought that 1.3 mil dollar house. They could never maintain that, let alone the lifestyle, without the show. But John and Kate and are aligned anymore, they are both unhappy, with the situation and with eachother. However, it is not financially freasable for them to step back and work on things without filming. Maybe Kate doesnt want to. WHo knows.

There was a critic who said that when he watched it monday night, he felt like he was looking in on someting he shouldnt have been. I felt the same way. Clearly they are both hurting. When can you draw the line and say, Ok. what are my priorities? I think financially they are so over their heads, that quitting the show would leave them where? How would they pay for the house? the bills? private schooling? etc. etc...the freebies will stop....eventually the book sales will stop.

The show is not the same. It was about a family of 10 trying to make it. Modest middle income US family with 8 kids..how do they do it!? Now its about watching a marriage shrivel and die, yet some cute kids are thrown in.

My 2 cents.


(BTW I do not like Kate at all. You dont have to kiss your husbands a$$, but he is your husband, treat him with respect.)

sadly, i think they see their kids as a cash cow... at least kate does.. I read that she got into an arguement with her father because when the sextuplets were born parishioners at her father's church had donated clothes and cribs, and kate was pissed because they didn't match, and she became estranged from her parents as a result... if that's true, and someone who is barely scraping by, and has 8 kids.. would you look a gift horse in the mouth? or would you be eternally grateful to the kindness of others?... not kate!

i also read that she feels society should help shoulder the burden of raising the kids because modern medicine increases the possibility of having multiples... she made the conscious decision to have fertility treatments full knowing that she was at an increased risk of having multiples.... why should society pay for it?? if she saw that there was no way she and jon could afford that, especially since she had quit her job, why would she not say to herself, you know what i'm happy with my twin girls and stop there...... i just don't understand / can't stand this woman..... she feels she's entitled to everything... she's essentially a more media savvy version of nadya suleman.

and she became estranged from aunt jodi and her brother kevin because tlc had offered jodi a contract for her frequent appearances on the show (like taking care of all the very sick kids, plus her 4 of her own sick kids, so kate and jon could fly to los angeles for free hair plugs for 3 days... who the fvck could leave 8 sick kids for cosmetic procedure??) and supposedly kate was against jodi making any $, no one but the gosselins could make $ off the show. aunt jodi was so sweet and so patient with those kids... and kate would say 'bless her heart, she sure does try' on the show when she did things kate didn't approve of, like give them gum.. she would be so rude to aunt jodi.. hello, she's helping you, be thankful.... how do you burn bridges with your own family like that?? how could the only people at your kid's bday parties be friend's and strangers?? where is the family?

it did feel awkward watching the show, you could see the frustration, anger on their faces on monday's premiere... the only logical thing to do, if you want to work your marriage out, and save your family, would be to pull the plug..... but at this point, can they go back to normal?? if not for the success of the show, how would they be able to afford their home and new lifestyle?

part of me feels that maybe it was all dramatized for promotional purposes and ratings.... but i don't know, how can someone do that? how can you be so low?

Did any of you read the people magazine where Kate was interviewed about the situation? From this it doesnt really seem like the show is the problem

She spoke about how Jon didnt want to do the show anymore, but she did say that he has a tendency to not want to do things anymore. she said in the article: (sorry it might be messy but i typed it from the article)

'first he said he's unhappy. heneeds a career. great I said go get a part time job. volunteer at the girls' school, at our church, do whatever you want. never happened. so i said go back to schoo you wanted to finish your degree? now is the time. yea, that never happened. '

'then it was I need help, so then i found a lovely girl and she started helping and then it was I cant live in this neighboorbood anymore. so right around that time, we moved. every complain he;s had Ive tried to fix. but the bottome line is, choose hapiness or done. nobody can make you happy except yourself. and i dont really feel he is happy.'


'of course the one option that hasnt been tried is walking awy from the show. everybody says oh quit and go away. kate says but im hesitant to do that, because I dont think that'll make Jon happy either. and therefore I sy\tep up for the needs of my kids'

I also want to add.. im not saying that I particularly like Kate or hatekate. Yes she is prob not always nice to her husband, but really when you ahve 8 jkids and you need stuff done and your stressed, sometimes things come out of your mouth the wrong way.

Anyway.. Ill tell you Jons problem,, its that he feels he has lost his youth, he didnt get to go out in his 20s and party and etc. He had twins then he had sextuplets. well you know what, him and Kate choose that and knew waht they were getting into. so he needs to get over the fact that he didnt have time to hang out with his friends and get drunk!

I never watched the show before Friday night...it had the first two years documentaries.
I must say they had to work unimaginably hard....I can understand how that much stress and responsibility could make anyone desperate.
But she does seem tone deaf to him.....she wants what she wants and is kind of inflexible....he just needed some validation.

If you know about the history of the Dionne quints, reality tv is not really the problem. Putting little kids like that in the public eye is a deal with the devil, however in this day and age of blogs and facebook the whole idea of privacy is changing.

I have never seen seasons 2,3,4....but from watching one and two, they sure did seem in over their head. When she had to go work a 16 hours shift on Saturday, I really felt for her.
I can understand how some bad decisions followed.
