jon & kate + 8 season premiere anyone?

interesting article linked below by jon & kate's brother and sister in law, jodi and kevin... I totally agree with them, at this point the innocent kids are being exploited by their parents, tlc, the advertisers, the media, and all of the nation who tune in to watch the show and do nothing but find them fodder for entertainment... this isn't healthy for a child... they're not animals on display at a zoo or a circus... there are child labor laws but why isn't anyone stepping in? tlc won't pull the show because trainwreck jon & kate means big ratings... but why should the kids suffer by being in the public eye? why not just make the show about jon & kate and their trainwreck relationship and shelter the kids from the cameras so at least they won't feel like they're on display for the world's entertainment... afterall, jon & kate are adults and if they want to air their dirty laundry on the air, then so be it.. america loves trash tv.... i'm sure the reason they pulled in 10 million viewers on season 5's premiere had nothing to do with the kid's 5th birthday party and everything to do with the promotions of 'watch jon & kate face each other for the first time after the cheating scandal'..... if the public cares to help the children, why not threaten to boycott tlc, and the advertisers.. who are drumming up all the $ in the end... then the kids might stand a chance of salvation... until then they'll continue to be used as entertainment...

its funny because I was all hyped to see it but once i was watching it was a different vibe. One tabloid described it as a feeling like you were watching something you shouldn't be looking in on...and thats exactly what it felt like. I feel horrible for all of them. I admire kate's organization...even thought in real life she has an army to maintain it. BUT I think Kate is so demeaning and cold with jon many times. It seems and has been confirmed by jons old friends that he was always a layed back kinda guy (loved to be outdoors and snowboarding) that personality doesn't change just bc you have 8 kids. I think While kate is right about people having responsibility over their own decisions, She is not even trying to imagine what the past few years of being thrown into the spotlight with all these kids against his will might make him resent her. It's not easy! some people say he didn't even really want to have another child after the twins....so imagine finding out ur having 6 more!!! your wife didn't just 'have a child' she had a LITTER!!!! then to top it off she throws your life on tv even though you say you need a break from cameras. I'd lash out too!

their family members had been saying jon and kate were 'all but divorced' way before this scandal came out so maybe they were living seperate lives off the camera and now kate's just mad that it came out and can ruin the family and her career.

from the older repeat episodes I've seen, they've never really looked like a loving couple to me... they mostly sit far apart, they never really look at each other, when they do look at each other sometimes it looks like they're resentful of one another... they talk down to each other... kate belittles and humiliates jon... she talks about his thinning hair, she wishes he was taller, she corrects his grammar... does she think she's perfect? maybe 8 kids does that to you?!

this scandal will only hurt her marriage and family... sadly it will probably actually help her career.. people eat this stuff up.... she's on the cover of every tabloid, and 10 million people tuned into monday's episode because of this scandal alone.... that's alot of viewers for a cable tv show... very sad!

I also want to add.. im not saying that I particularly like Kate or hatekate. Yes she is prob not always nice to her husband, but really when you ahve 8 jkids and you need stuff done and your stressed, sometimes things come out of your mouth the wrong way.

Anyway.. Ill tell you Jons problem,, its that he feels he has lost his youth, he didnt get to go out in his 20s and party and etc. He had twins then he had sextuplets. well you know what, him and Kate choose that and knew waht they were getting into. so he needs to get over the fact that he didnt have time to hang out with his friends and get drunk!

I think that is a HUGE part of it, he was so young when this all happened. I mean imagine at 30 years old have 7 year old twins and sextuplets. He was married and became a father at a young age and have seen it happen many times where it just hits them and they think 'omg where did my youth go'

Now this isn't to offend anyone or shouldn't be taken personally but unfortunately getting married SO young, this can happen very easily. You're young and in love, you get married then you hit 30 and you go oh wow im 30 and you look back and can feel you missed out on things. Hey i am getting this feeling and i got married at 28. Not missing out on things now but looking back i wish i did even more when i was in my early 20's.

just to play devils advocate... they have 8 kids. that is 8 kids to take on vacations (most are given to them - but would they be able to go on vacation if they didnt have the show?) buy a car for, to put through college etc... granted 75,000 per episode is a lot, but just think of what they will have to pay out now and in the future. she may seem money hungry but ever think that she sees no other way to privide for a 8 children??

yeah of course, i mean hey they did get a lot of good out of the show. Vacations that lets be honest, most families with 2 or 3 kids dont even get. I mean last season almost every episode was a new vacation. They went to disney, north carolina and stayed in a big house there, san diego, hawaii. What family of even lets say 1 kid does that many vacations in such a short period of time, oh yeah and lets not forget their skiing trip. So theyve had opportunities that if it wasn't for the show they'd never have. At this point, they have a 1.3 million dollar home so they are set with that. They have cars, theyve had plastic surgery, they already have money for the kids college funds and actually i think their state gave the kids college funds from the time they were born so they were set with college before the show but with $75,000 an episode for 5 seasons is pretty good. Not to mention book deals she has now, other appearances, and all the free stuff they have. At this point, ok the show changed your life forever and after last season when Jon had enough of the show they should've ended it. They had a good run but now its effect their lives and the kids lives for the worse. As a kid you would rather have your dad around than all these vacations.

I understand why she did the show in the first place and yes smart of her but now the show has taken over and is ruining their lives.

totally! it was a smart money making move.. all the freebies and vacations, etc... but honestly, at what price? imho all the vacations and free cars in the world aren't worth the sanctity of a happy marriage and family. i think it just went to their heads.

I remember when Denise Richards had her show, everyone was yelling at her b/c she had her kids on the show and was expoiting them. They werent even on the show that much.

But Jon and Kate never got any flack for it until now?? W T F??

I understand why they wanted to do the show to support the family. I understand taking freebies such as a Disney Vacation. I get that. But in every episode they always talk about how they are looking out for the best interest fr the kids.

Well IMO, the best interest of your kids is to maintian a happy and healthy household, to raise your children, and to be there for them

I get she's looking into the future and the college education etc. to make money when the show will eventually end.

But I've never heard or seen anything that indicated to me that the relationship was ever important to either of them. That's sad because it is in the best interest to have the parents happy. And it would have been simpler to work on the marriage all along. I think parents that are happy and together is the best scenario.
