my parents have a summer house in the Poconos...so DH and I (and our doggy) are spending the weekend there....its free and we can just cook/drink wine and relax. it will be a nice getaway from the city.

Beach, eat at many of the local tasty restaurants in E Hampton or Montauk, drink, etc. There is plenty to do!

We always go to my mom's house on the 3rd. She lives in Amityville and they do a big fireworks display. We start with cocktails and appetizers at mom's and then walk into town for the fireworks show.

DH is working during the day on the 4th but when he gets home, we have a BBQ to go to. DH is super-excited since he bought a ton of stuff this year - he gets like a giant kid on the 4th.

My grandparents have a house there too. DH has been begging me to go up one weekend. I won't be up there this weekend though. Ours is in Effort.

My in-laws live right near Ocean CIty, NJ so we will be there for the weekend hanging out at the beach.
