I dont really like either one but then again I go back and forth.
I just hate to think that people will vote for either just because she is a woman and he is black. I think he is a great speaker but has no point....absolutely none. And Clinton the only reason people like her is b/c of her husband...and I think he ****** too!!!

I mean hell, Im a good speaker too-doesnt mean I should be president, and Clinton being the Mrs. White House for awhile doesnt mean she is good enough to be pres. Um for the record her husband is part of the reason GW is so hated...I mean GW is a dummy but he had to fix Clintons F ups too
I dont know who I am voting for...I am still up in the air. But I realy believe that alot fo those votingfor either one are onlydoing it b/c 'first' factor and thats annoying

i completely agree!! i feel like it's a more of a battle between minorities rather than presidency. so should i vote for the black guy or for the woman? i have a feeling the republicans might win again

I think Hillary's done an excellent job as senator. I can't help but recall the whole brouhaha after 9-11 where Giuliani went to the first Yankees game and people were mad that she was back in Washington working Congress for federal funds.
Flash forward 7 years: Where's Giuliani for the first 6 primaries?????? Mugging for cameras in FL. Where's Hillary? Working. In fact, getting in trouble for having too much presence in MI and FL.
Also, I think Obama is fuzzy on plan specifics. I get that his health care plan makes everyone buy health insurance. How does he expect me to pay for it? What happens when I can't pay for it? For DH and I, it's another $8000 / year. Health savings accounts???? Are you kidding??? I don't even have that in my regular savings account! His Mideast plan lacks details also. It's nice that he wants a summit, but Hillary's website has a plan laid out for the Iraqi humanitarian crisis, which most people aren't even aware exists. We're not going to stabilize squat if people are still living in tents and bombed-out sheds.
One of my co-workers has a great button: Hillary: Because we need a president with a three-digit IQ. Everybody 'liked' GW best 8 years ago. She's not gal-pal material, but I don't need to like her personally for her to be effective.

IMO, Obama is not experienced enough as a leader. He speaks but says nothing. Hillary has been around government for quite a long time, albeit thru her husband and as a member of the senate in her own right. She is quite an intelligent woman. She speaks in a way that makes me believe that she will get issues done, but to be taken with a grain of salt.
This is not a male vs. female, black vs. white campaign. It is about who the most qualified individual is to effectively lead our country for the next 4 years. There is a huge mess to clean up, and a lot of serious issues, including financial, to address.
I registered republican in 1988. I have no qualms about crossing party lines.

Re: Just curious!!! VOTE
I haven't really made up my mind yet, but because I am a bit addicted to politics, a few of my thoughts (I think differing political views is what makes America the country it is, so if you disagree, I totally respect that and please don't flame me for my views):
I think they are similar candidates who have a really hard time distinguishing themselves. I personally do not care who is more charismatic, or who I would rather sit and chat with. I want to know who can fix the mess our country finds itself in. Thankfully, I think they are both intelligent which puts us light years ahead of where we are now, no matter who you vote for.
I think it is absurd for people to vote for Hillary because she is a woman or Obama because he is African American. If anyone said they weren't voting for either of the candidates based on these factors, most people would find it reprehensible, so why should it factor in to a decision in a positive light?
I think Obama could have a very successful career ahead of him, but I don't think that he has said anything of substance so I am still on the fence with him. Screaming change from the rooftops without a plan for change is not going to get us anywhere once the election is over. I think Hillary has her faults as well, but I think people are so much harder on her because her husband was president. She has done a lot of good things for New York as Senator and was re-elected in a mandate-style landslide, so people must think she is doing something right. Hillary has been a force in the legal and political worlds irrespective of her husband for many years. Most first ladies do not take on major policy initiatives during their husband's presidencies, so I think it is unfair for her to be judged on the merits of her husband, regardless of whether you like him or not.
Lastly, I fear that neither of these candidates can beat McCain for a multitude of reasons which I won't bore anyone with.
Thus, the most interesting election of the past few decades and perhaps our lives is upon us. One where there are no clear candidates. It should be an interesting few months...

Amen sister friend! I think you hit all the major points right there.
Obama reminds me too much of crap i forget his name now! But this was back in the 70's I believe. I was discussing it with a co-worker-anyway that guyw as green too and made a MESS! Worst presidency ever. Obama could be a great guy..in ten years or so when he is not dripping with wetness behind his ears.
My issue with Hilary is she is VERY VERY abrasive...like if you don't like Hilary, you usually hate her. Not much in between on her. I think she's tried to make a good run of it and yes she has done some good for New York though I generally don't agree wholly with her policies. But she's done all right in fairness. However, although ALL politicians regardless of party flip flop on issues, she does it to the extreme. And when she had been called on it with PROOF in terms of recordeded videos of speeches etc she still says 'I never said such a thing.' Sounds VERY reminicent of a certain other President Clinton who split hairs on semantics about what did and did not constitute as 'sex...'
But that's not the main issue I have with Hilary or Obama. My main feeling is that our country is in a situation where we have ALOT of enemies right now for various reasons, not alL GW's fault; as Peggy said, Clintons had their hand in the mess too that has carried over, and there have been lots of other fingers poking in there too.
But regardless of WHO did it, we need to be united under a president that not only we as U.S citizens can respect, but other country leaders can respect as well. I don't think a woman who ahs been documented verbally flip flopping and still denies it vehemently, and who had a husband in such a scandal AND is very abrasive and doesnt have the Schmooze skills needed in a president when dealing with foreign affairs in particular, will be accepted well by other countries. The same goes for Obama who everyone aeems to agree is a bit too green and will make us, the 'super power' look like a super weenie until he gains some major experience. JMO but I don't want him 'learning on the job' as President.
It is unfortunate, but we are not a bubble. We do need to have someone representing us that can be seen as both fair and powerful by other powerhouse countries and who can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Its not all about who ahs the best or strongest ideas unfortunately, but aslo who can SPIN their ideas like they are the best.
One thing I can say for Bill Clinton is he was and is charismatic-you know he is a jackass, yet there is still something likeable about him. I think whoever leads us for the next 4 years really needs a bit of social charisma.
Its just very unfortunate some people know these facts but will vote for them anyway because as others have said, its a matter of 'possible 'firsts'; first female pres, first black pres.
I am a registered republican because generally my personal beliefs just seem to match up betetr with the republican party. I am not a fan of all republicans; I didn't want GW to win. I have been known to cross party lines if I really feel a candidate has my personal best interests and beliefs at heart . However I will not be doing it this year because the Democratic party fawked a duck when they pushed these two people through.

neither Clinton nor Obama are strong enough candidates to beath McCain, so it doesnt really matter. Although they have a lot of followers, they have a lot of people who strongly HATE them (especially Clinton) and they both have a lot of baggage that has yet to be dug up.

The Clintons have been through the dirt-digging process forever now. There's probably not all that much left. Obama came out with the cocaine stuff preemptively.
McCain may look unbeatable now, but the gloves won't come off until after the conventions. If he panders to the social conservative base when he picks a running mate, he'll get his a$$ handed to him in the general. At his age, people worry about who's going to be #2 a lot more than they will for either Democrat.
I know what you're going to say, 'Ronald Reagan was ancient.' Ronnie didn't have such a physically demanding youth. It takes a toll.

Re: Just curious!!! VOTE
It doesn't appear that a history of drug problems are an issue for the American voting public (not to say Obama had a drug problem)... or at least they weren't in electing our current president.
And though it would be an absolute reason for me not to vote for McCain if he were to pick a social conservative for VP, and I completely agree that his choice of VP will be a concern given his age (and think it should be) I think it will actually help him a lot in the general election. The great majority of voting republicans outside of urban areas (which is a lot) are concerned McCain isn't conservative enough.
