Just curious- who has health insurance

im on DH plan now.. his insurance is excellent!

when i switched jobs at one point and i had to wait for 3 months to get insurance.. i just had COBRA.. i needed to cover myself just incase.

I have thru my job, and DH has thru his.
But we both added each other to our respective plans.
Each of us now has primary and secondary coverage.

I don't think I could go without insurance - unless it was $$$$$$$ and we really couldn't find a way to pay.

As it is, I've needed my health insurance so much - especially recently - that if we didn't have coverage, there's NO WAY we could afford everything. Put it this way, I had 3 MRI's this month and just ONE of them costs $1900. Plus doctor's visits, medications, etc. There's absolutely no way we would be able to afford everything without health insurance.

That said, before we got married I used to be covered with my job and DH with his. After we got married, DH put me on his - it's cheaper and MUCH better coverage. Some of my medications have NO copayment - never had that before. So it's a big big big plus.

Also, you never know when you have to go to the ER or something. My mom had to go last month and the hospital noted down her insurance member # incorrectly, so the insurance co. basically billed my mom for the visit - $3,000!!! For 3 hours in the ER. If she didn't have insurance, she would have to pay that out of pocket! As it is, we called the insurance co and the hospital and they've noted the right insurance member number and will resubmit.

But it can be CRAZY. I understand that insurance premiums are really really expensive right now, but even just getting a basic coverage or emergency only coverage plan would be beneficial.

Dh and I are both covered through my insurance plan. Dh actually went for a year and half without having any coverage. I was so nervous I wanted to put him in a bubble like bubble boy. Thank God he never got hurt or sick.

I had to wait 3 month when i started at my job for coverage to kick in. I had GHI emergency room care only and it was crazy expensive something like $400 a month. Healthcare in this country is out of control.

I have it and my DH is on it because he lost his job right after we got married.

He started a new job and is thinking of going on their plan. We have to compare which plan is better.

i've always had it (I am a teacher, so we get it as part of our benefits)

DH didn't have it for the LONGEST time because his cheap azz former company wouldn't pay for it.

He is now teaching and has a good plan... in fact, i switched over to his because he pays nothing out of pocket for his heath plan, where I was. I am now on his plan.

We both have it, its paid fully through our jobs, but I switched to DH's plan since its a much better plan then mine. I had only been without health insurance for about 1 1/2 years of my life, I decided to take the money from my company instead of the insurance- it was a nice option my boss offered me at the time. (I was saving for my first house) Well ladies, this was the worst choice I ever made in my life, **PS this was all before I met my husband about 6 or so years ago. Well ps, during this time I was involved in a terrible car accident where an illegal alien came head on at me and i either let him hit me head on, where I figured I would be dead instantly, due to his speed or turn right and go over the 6 foot wall of snow, which I did, the car flipped over and I was cut out of the car. I was in the hospital for almost 6 months, yes ladies 6 months, where I had to learn how to eat, walk and write all over again, 5 broken bones, three knee surgeries, 8 ankle surgeries and three wrist and arm surgeries later, my limbs were saved, I almost was an amputee, I lost all my savings during that time due to the extraordinary expenses I had to pay due to not having insurance. I Thank God I recovered 99.9% due to great doctors and persistence on my part by pushing myself 5 hours a day with physical therapy. So ladies its so important, try to never be without insurance.

Praise the lord I have insurance...DH is on my policy. I give them a run for their money with all of my interesting ailments. Nothing better than seeing on the thing that comes with your prescription saying 'Your insurance saved you $1449'

Thank you so much, I thank my lucky stars every day that I am alive, normal, happy and healthy, even when I want to complain about aches and pains, I say, I cant, as I think of all those people who were so worse off then me, like an amputee I had seen and got to know in the hospital, this lady was all over the news while I was watching tv one night in the hospital, she got ran over by a bus, then a few months later she was in with me on the physical therapy ward floor of the hospital, the hospital sent everyone on the floor to classes every day, teaching you to deal with your current or permanent injury and talk about it, I said oh my god, this amazing woman is laughing and happy and talking & she had no legs, it was so hard to see someone like that at first, it just makes your feel uncomfortable. How could I ever complain again in my life, Seeing her just made my heart drop at first, but getting to speak to her makes you appreciate life and whats important, its not so much what you have, its who you are and whats inside that counts, you get so inspired by all these people. Thanks for the great wishes, now I have a wonderful husband & was able to walk or even run down the aisle with him on my wedding day, thats my blessing, and my husband is so wonderful, so happy I met an amazing man.

Kristy, honestly you are an inspiration. I cannot even imagine what your own experience was like, but to also have to live and share other people's experiences - you must have been moved beyond what most people ever are. I am so happy that you WERE and ARE able to walk and run and have a wonderful life after what you went through. I have some ailments right now, but NO WHERE near what you went through and it has really put things in perspective for me. Thank you for sharing your story!!!!

We both do, we get many different insurance plans as options through work.
We can choose which one we would like each year.
Along with Dental & Vision.

We are Very Lucky.

I Plan on just going on DH's Health Plan b/c we have the Exact Same Insurance. And we both work for the same Health Sysytem.
