Just gave notice...

Just gave notice to my boss this morning. As expected, he tried to promise me the sun, the moon, and the stars to stay. And then told me if I left I'd only get laid off in 6 months, maybe a year tops in my new position Sigh. I humored him and told him I would sleep on the decision, but I'm still leaving. He apparently convinced my two other young coworkers who had other offers earlier in the year to stay, and I spoke to them both and they both really regret it. And he was all smug about it that he did a good thing by convincing them to stay, but now they're just unhappy and even more resentful...so I can't fall in to that trap.

I know I made the right decision, and it's time to move on, despite his scare tactics and thinly veiled blackmail. He's promised me increased pay and commission so many times before I can't even count, and not ONCE has any materialized. So I'm glad I was strong and didn't let myself get bullied...scary and nervous to make such a drastic change, but definitely time!

Good for you Ali! My previous boss did the same - telling me that the economy was so bad, 'last hired first fired' etc. etc. etc. - almost three years later, here I am!

This guy is selfish and out for himself (AKA your typical businessman, politician, etc.). Do what's best for YOU not him or the company!!!!

I know leaving your job and making this type of move is scary and stressfull..... but it will be SO WELL WORTH it in the end!!!

Congratulations for standing up for what you need and not being driven by fear. Will be worth it in the end!
