Just got a call from my mom

I am not sure what to think...sorry if long...

My dad is 77, not a young 77 either. He went through the whole kidney cancer situation recently and came out lucky....apparently he has not been able to eat, the doctor found blood in his stoole (sorry if TMI)...today he goes to the doctor and the doctor says he wants to speak to the family....that usually isn't good right? My mother gave me the number and I called, he is currently in a procedure but I am going to page him around 6, which is what the nurse told me to do. My parents are Greek, but a very foriegn Greek, I can't get straight answers out of them and the information they provide is very vague....but I can only think bad things when a Dr. says he wants to talk to the family......

Hopefully things will be ok. Maybe he just wants to speak to the family due to the language barrier. Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

I agree about him wanting to speak to you guys since there is a language barriers.

Try not to think the worst. Since you say your parents are very Greek, maybe he wants to speak to the family to make sure they are fully understanding everything. It's good if his doctor is being thorough since he already had cancer. I'll say a prayer.

I totally understand what your going through right now. My dad had cancer removed from his stomach 2 years ago, since then his eating habits have been so bad. He is never hungry and it bothers him to eat. The cancer is back in his lungs and he didnt tell us. He doesnt want anymore treatments as he just had another surgery to remove a lump in the back of his head a few weeks ago. He is from Italy and is being very vague and keeping things to himself as well, he is stubborn so its tough to get things out of him and change his mind.

Try not to think the worst and be strong for your parents, Im sure everything will work out

I know that must be scary. But like the other girls said, he may just want to speak with someone without a language barrier complicating anything.

Oh my goodness I am so sorry. I will pray for your father as well. It really sounds like my father as well. When he went in for his last surgery he was ready to let go. We were like this isn't the end you are going ot be fine. I feel like part of him wishes it would all stop. It kills me...

thanks, really try to not think the worst. He probably just wants to update the family on his situation and tell you whats going on.
but I know what you mean about feeling like he's ready to let go. my father is the same way and acts like he wants nothing more to be done to better himself. Thats why if they tell you any new news you just have to be strong for him and push
