Okay ... we are booking our vacation this year (Oct/Nov) for Hawaii, we are only going to Oahu (Rob has a conference there) and Kauai. Unfortunately, we don't have time to visit any other island.
I've spoke to Christine1221 about this and she recommends the Hyatt hands down. But I have to ask the rest of you Hawaii fans where you would stay. It's either an ocean view at the Marriott or Sheraton or a Garden view at the Hyatt? An ocean view room at the Hyatt is almost $600 a night and we just didn't want to spend that or else I wouldn't be asking this question. Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks ladies!

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
I loved the Princeville plus I stayed at the Hyatt in maui so I liked staying somewhere different, the locations are different so I would decide what you want as far as that goes first.
Princeville area is more private and lush but rain is more common there, even though I had none

We also stayed at the Princeville and loved it. All of the rooms have the most amazing view. The Princeville is part of the Starwood Luxury Collection so everything is amazing. I also heard that the North shore had more rain, but we didn't have any.

The Princeville is gorgeous and that area of Kauai is stunning, but if you're looking to hang out by the pool and relax you are gauranteed great weather at the Hyatt. That's where we stayed and we loved it! But def. take a drive up to where the Princeville is.

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
Thank you so much ladies ... Teri and anyone else, I'd love to see pics! I think we are going to go with the Hyatt and hope for an upgrade (we still look like honeymooners ). I heard about the Princeville, but we wanted the sun, although we are renting a convertible and plan on driving that way. Thanks so much again - you ladies are wonderful - I told Rob we couldn't book until I 'spoke' with you all first!

I only went to MAui and Oahu on my honeymoon. I would definetely stay at the Hyatt. I heard wonderful things about it. It was on the top ten list of pools on the travel channel too.

Cira - FM me your email address and I can send you my online album of Kauai and the Hyatt. I have it on snapfish so I can't post.
DH and I were mistaken for honeymooners when we went to Mexico last month - we could have totally played the game. LOL Also, when you book ask your travel agent to mark you as honeymoon (like a note of something) that way it pops right up on the computer in the hotel!!!
You defintitely should rent a convertible and drive the entire island - it doesn't take that long and is gorgeous. Then you can go up and walk around the princeville. It is beautiful there but when we went it was so foggy/humid there and by our hotel is was gorgeous and sunny. On the drive you have to stop at a shaved ice stand and get shaved ice over macademia ice-cream - I have been craving this soooo bad lately. Sounds weird and I have to tell you DH insisted and I thought he wa crazy and it was one of the best things I ate in Hawaii!!! So yummy!
The Hyatt has a great salt water pool. Lou and I rented floats and could have layed there all day!

Cira ..... sounds like you have a plan!! You will love Kauaii hands down & the Hyatt will not dissapoint!
We also rented a jeep for the time we were there & drove up to the north side. It was so beautiful, and it only took about an hour to get there. I'll get you my Hawaii for Dummies book if you want & you can check out all of the amazing things to do!
I'm so excited for you!

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
I didn't stay there but I went a couple of times. I wanted to tell anyone who will be there during the construction that it seemed really quiet. They have these special cranes that make almost no noise. You could see it but not hear it. My travel agent pulled me from it because of the construction. If I had to do it over, I would have stayed there.

Lisa ... that's better than what we got. I think we paid $310 a night for the mt. view. After seeing these pics and reading the great reviews ... I had to do it!!! Let us know what you decide!!!
