Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
Okay ... we are booking our vacation this year (Oct/Nov) for Hawaii, we are only going to Oahu (Rob has a conference there) and Kauai. Unfortunately, we don't have time to visit any other island.I've spoke to Christine1221 about this and she recommends the Hyatt hands down. But I have to ask the rest of you Hawaii fans where you would stay. It's either an ocean view at the Marriott or Sheraton or a Garden view at the Hyatt? An ocean view room at the Hyatt is almost $600 a night and we just didn't want to spend that or else I wouldn't be asking this question. Any help is appreciated!!!
Thanks ladies!

We are going for a vacation there too in August and staying at the Marriott. We would have done the Hyatt but decided not to go completely overboard on money. The Marriott looks beautiful and seems nice too!

I just got back from my honeymoon at the Hyatt on Friday. I highly recommend it. Absolutely beautiful. A true tropical paradise resort. I did not see the Marriott or the Sheraton, but we had lunch at the Princeville. Beautiful view, but much more modern-looking. Hope this helps!

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
the Hyatt! That was by far the best 4 days of our lives
We LOVED the resort and had a garden view room too. We spent most of our time by the pool so we didn't care about the view so much.Plus, the location is on the sunnier side of the island
You're going to have the BEST time!!!!

Kauai is the one island we haven't made it to yet, and we're also planning a trip for the fall (a friend of ours just moved to Oahu, so we'll soend a few days with him and then hop over)here's what I've heard, but can't speak from experience (yet).
Raves about the Hyatt, Sheraton was nice but an older crowd, Princeville is great if you want to be on the north side.

I stayed at the Sheraton, I really liked it a lot-didn't love it. We just came from the Kea Leani in Maui which was paradise so some of that was the comparison. We visited both the Hyatt and the Princeville, both are gorgeous. I prefer the South side of the island so I'd say the Hyatt if you can swing it or the Sheraton which is a liittle cheaper. Do pool or ocean side if you do the Sheraton, much nicer than garden.

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
just wanted to add: we chose not to have a poolside room because we wanted privacy. We figured anywhere near the pool would be louder, but I don't think that would be the case at the Hyatt. Everything's so spread out the rooms aren't right on top of the pool.Speaking of which, I want to post some pictures from my trip! Shutterfly is giving me problems so I'll try and post later.....

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
I loved the Hyatt as well....I would do the Hyatt with a Garden view!! They may even upgrade you! (that's what happened to me - exept we got a partial ocean view.) I vote Hyatt !FM me if you have more questions!!!!!!
PS I can't see the Hyatt being bad even with construction - for this quality hotel - I can't see them doing that. I am sure it will be hidden. My hotel in Maui had been under consturction when I went and I had no clue it was going on. Every now and they I saw a workers or smelled fresh paint. That was it!

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
I just came back from Kauai, and I stayed at the Princeville. Very modern and fancy with awesome views. I loved every minute of it, and I'm glad I got to stay at 2 totally different hotels. Len really LOVED the Princeville, we were in luxury. But if I went back, I would stay at the Hyatt.
We had a chance to visit the hotels, and the Hyatt was not too interupted at all with the construction. I didn't even see the cranes or hear any noise.
BUT
We did smell paint pretty heavily in one corridor. I'm not sure how long that will last.
But it was a Garden paradise. The Garden view will be fabulous, and the Kauai spa is suppossed to be the best.

I know what you mean though - there are still so many gorgeous pics I've never shown anyone here from my wedding and HM, but I'm just too lazy to scan them in! In retrospect, I would have paid a large fee to get these pics digitally

Re: Kauai, Hawaii - I need hotel help ...
We stayed at the Sheraton in Kauai last September for our honeymoon. It was exactly what we were looking for. It's very low key and now that I think about it I guess it was an older crowd. If you're looking for beautiful I would save the money and go to the Sheraton. If you're looking for luxury and to be really WOWed I would go to the Hyatt. From everything I've heard you will not be disappointed with the Hyatt.
You're going to love Kauai!
