Ladies, how long did it take you...

Ladies, how long did it take you...

To get USED to having NOTHING to do... (planning, wedding etc.)

I'm just so DOWN these days!

Of course, I'm excited that I'm married... but DH & I were legally married months ago, have been living together for a while and already raising a child (my biological son...) so nothing has really changed.

I just keep wishing it was Sept 13th... I guess I need a GOAL to accomplish, you know?

Just tell me the feeling passes..

I'll let you know when it passes. it's been 110 days and I still miss it

It does get easier though........

Re: Ladies, how long did it take you...

I was busy before the wedding planning started, and I'm still busy after!

If you're down, though, it will pass, I'm sure!!! Consider taking up a new hobby (like EverlovingEv's cooking adventures!) or learning something new... Take a class or learn something on your own.

I'm in the opposite boat as you, but I can completely understand why you're down. It's as if you fucused so much energy on one thing for so long that now that's it's over, it's tough to remember what it felt like to not have a giant goal to be working toward! I say brainstorm about what your next goal is and start taking steps to achieve it!

I lead a full life with very little down time. I actually am glad I don't have to plan a wedding any on top of what I was doing anymore! I realize not everyone is in the same boat.

Thankfully, too, for us, we are buying a house (closing tomorrow!) so that will be keeping us busy for a while. We have a lot of updating / cosmetic work to do on the inside during the next month, and then we move!

Other than that, I work long hours, try to swim 3-4 days a week, try to go to the gym on the other 3-4 days a week, ride my horses 2-3 days a week, catch up with all the people I didn't have time to see regularly while I was planning the wedding, and enjoying doing NOTHING for small stretches of time when the opportunity presents itself!

Seriously, though, if you're super-bored -- think of what you were doing to occupy your time before you started planning the wedding. Go back to doing that. If you can't remember or can't do the same things, maybe think of a hobby you'd like to try! Take a class or learn on your own.

Just enjoy being married, too!

I just funneled all the extra energy into work, which is where it should be if your in my field....

you definitely had a pre-wedding life, and it will return before you know it....... but there is that awkward post-planning stage... for me, it lasted a couple months......

i was really surpised that i didnt suffer from post wedding blues!
i think b/c i emersed myself in wedding planning, plus i like not having to make decesions and agonizing over font color, type, shape etc.

I miss wedding planning, but I still have to sort through all the pictures that we got from our photographer and post them online. I had so much trouble with him and with pictures not being very good, that I don't even want to touch them or look at them.

I really miss all the wedding planning, but now I am trying to busy myself with other things. Like looking up different recipies online and trying to cook them. Too bad DH does not eat much in the evenings and he won't take food with him to work.

I'm so with you Caroline! I was actually fine with the weeks after the wedding - school hadn't started yet, and I got my proofs and was able to pick them out for my album and put together my video order. Did lots of visiting family and stuff and enjoying my freedom, going to the gym and whatnot.

Once I went back to school the post wedding blues hit BAD. Reality set in...back to work, back to life with nothing exciting on the horizon. It does get better with time as everyone said. It's just tough when you're on this crazy high for such a long period...and then it's gone. You are totally not alone in this - so many of us are going through it.

I am actually enjoying doing nothing for a few weeks. I started back with my graduate classes last week & will have to start doing a lot of work for that soon. I have to make up for last semester. I was soooo into planning my wedding that my grades suffered a lot last semester. I really should have taken that semester off.

I still miss the planning but it definetely does get better with time. There was a point though during the planning that I could not wait for it to be all over because my Mom passed away 3 weeks before my wedding and I just did not want to be bothered with anything.

feeling passed for me the day after the wedding......
You'll settle into life and the feeling will pass.
If it doesn't, you'll just have to have another kid to keep you busier

I'll let ya know when the time comes! As of now I just lurk on the boards and get depressed... I didn't think I would get this way. The planning caused so much stress and I was so happy when it was all over, but now, especially with all the fall and winter brides and all the cute themes.... I just want to do it all over again!!!! well not really all over again, maybe just help some people plan

I have more Post Wedding Aggravation then Post Weddng Blues. The aggravation has sligthtly dimished. I had alot of things that went wrong on my wedding day. One of the main things was my florist. Yes, they are an LIW Vendor and I had major problems. The biggest one being my bouquet dying before the ceremony. I can't get over how I put so much confidence into this vendor and they let me down the most.

Re: Ladies, how long did it take you...

When we were on our honeymoon the day after the Wedding, I told DH that it felt like I had just quit a part-time job (wedding planning).
I had soo much time on my hand.
