Ladies out there who were fearful and still got a tattoo?

I have wanted a tattoo forever---but my fear of needles and pain in general has stopped me.
My 16 year old niece called me last week to say that she got one on her stomach---and I realized that if she can do it---why should I be such a puss about it? I generally know what I want--just have to narrow down the particular design. But I'm still getting freaked out over the idea of it..
So those of you who have 1 or 2 and were really nervous or fearful of getting one--how'd you get over the fear?

i have 4 tattoos and I never feared them for some reason I always wanted one when I was younger (i also had gotten my first one at a very young age) I think the pain is mental (for most of the portion) it also depends on where that tattoo is going on your body

I want a tattoo so badly but was so scared it would hurt too much. But since having to do hormone injections, I've been thinking maybe I can handle it. DH has five and all of my friends have such beautiful ones.

I just did it- went in and said no turning back and did it- it honestly isnt even that bad... And im petrified of needles (rich had to drag me out of the car and i literally locked the car door and stayed there for a few minutes before he convinced me to open)... just make the appointment, bring someone there and just do it!!!

The one part of my body that did hurt alot was the back of my ankle (I have a full band around my ankle) but the other spots weren't so bad.
DH has flames from his ankle to his knee all around his leg - as well as a bunch of other tattooes BUT he said that the back of the ankle was the worst part - he actually had to stop and go back for a second day bc he couldnt handle it while all the other places he was fine! that was enough to scare me away
Yeah, it was brutal!! I did the outline and shading in one sitting and the color a few weeks after that. I would have kept going the first time, but the artist I worked with only tattoos for 2-2.5 hours on one spot because it gets all swollen and gross.

It really doesn't hurt that badly- its a good kinda pain!! I'll admit- it gets very uncomfortable after 2 hours going over the same spot- its sore as hell but its not unbearable! YOU CAN DO IT!!

LMAO i tricked him saying ok Ill come out just come and get me and the su cker believed me so when he came around I locked the doors and I wouldnt open!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you should have seen him yelling at me and everyone staring at me!!! CLASSICCCC

I wanted one for a while and finally just ****** it up and did it. I went in and handed in my design (a friend designed it for me) I made the appoinment for the actual session and it was fine. I had enough time to get excited about it...and the guys that were in the shop when I was there were awesome. (I had a female tattoo artist)
I bought one of those stress balls just in case it hurt but where I got it (lower right of my back) it was fine.

I really want one on my foot - a row of stars from my big toe to my ankle (starting large'ish and getting smaller) - but i'm PETRIFIED of the pain - since it's such a bony area!!!
